I can finally sleep at night. After what seemed to be the worst nightmare and still dealing with the loss of my son's vehicle that was in my name and had absolutely nothing to do with an almost 20 year old loan. I spoke with Tammy Harold. She was so pleasant and reassured me that everything was going to be fine going forward. I will never get the Jeep back, but knowing that I can stop any further action takes so much pressure off of me. After signing away everything under duress from an abusive ex-husband that basically forced me to sign separation papers in his lawyers office with no legal representation and his office manager notarizing everything (who actually resigned afterwards, telling me he could not work for someone so deceitful and how sorry he was) made me realize it wasn't just me. Then my son, from a previous marriage hung himself after being followed and tormented by this man. I was shocked to have a sheriff take my other son's vehicle for a 20 year old loan, that I am still not sure what it was. Tammy made me feel safe and assured me that together nothing like this will happened again. She was so kind and listened with such empathy that helped me realize that my life was worth living. I am on a fixed income, helped put my son through UNC, which was his dad's responsibility, but no. I have no money to take him back to court. He is a dead beat dad with a wife 20 years younger, from another country with a daughter that he takes care of. He has not even called or tried to contact our son in years. After he sued me for custody and lost. He even went so far as to assault my lawyer in a public restaurant. He owns his on business and hides money and cheats the IRS. With Tammy Harold and the company she works for I can be whole again. I can't thank her enough. I give them 100 stars. She actually returns phone calls and I now have someone on my side. Thank you Tammy.

After exhausting all options to alleviate my debt, including repayment and debt management / consolidation, we ran into a dead end. After searching for more options, we came across John T. Orcutt's website. This website is chockfull of information, with varying degrees for bankruptcy, and alternatives, which we already had checked. We were currently on a debt management plan but it left us with very little money at the month's end to put into an emergency account.
After quite a lot of soul searching, we made the call... and so far, we are very happy we did. We were immediately scheduled to have a free consultation at the Wilmington office. With our hopes at an all time low, and self esteem in the trash, we entered the Wilmington office with our tails low.
This began to change quickly when we met with the paralegal, Monica Barbour. First off, she is very much not judgmental... she let's you know right away that she has been there and will be with you all the way. She is extremely knowledgeable with regards to the options available, and that each and every person has a unique story and list of circumstances. After listening intently, she then begins her magic and starts to plug you into one of the plans best suited for you. While doing this, Monica is chatting and lifting your spirits. When she is finished, she then places the options in your hands. She does not push or shove anything in your face. She even provided us the opportunity to take everything home and think about it.
Well, we then checked our list of questions that we had made up prior to our visit, and discovered that, without knowledge of them, Monica had already answered them all. This sold us. We chose to proceed with the Chapter 13 option. We are now in a holding pattern until Monica advises us further, but now we both know, without a doubt, that we are in good hands. Thank you Monica for all you have done so far, and for simply being you!
For those of you reading this, we know this is a very important decision, filled with dread, and definitely doubt. Please just make the call... there is no commitment. You owe it to yourself.
