In 2017 I enlisted Atkinson & Kelsey, P.A. to represent me in a divorce proceedings.. Lucy Sinkular, Attorney and Belinda Demaree, Paralegal were assigned to my case. They both performed with a high degree of professionalism and effort to bring the case to a satisfactory conclusion. I felt that they were two friends working for me to get me through a rough period. I couldn’t have been more pleased with their work and I strongly recommend this team and their firm.

Fo the past 19 years I used Atkinson and Kelsey law firm. They helped me through a very difficult time. Jon Feder is an outstanding attorney and has an exemplary understanding of New Mexico Family law. I highly recommend this firm for family law.

Seeing only 5 star reviews and 1 star reviews for this firm shows the clients that won their cases gave excellent reviews and those that lost gave poor reviews. It shows the shortcoming of Google's review system.

Mrs Virgina Dugan is the worst , she is professional liar, she filed multiple motions and charge me for it and then she claimed all this motions useles and refuse go to court, she ruined me and my case, she is manipulative all what matter for her to get 10000 $ retention fees, and file few motions which will cost u close to 10000$ , and refuse to honor any of the promises made in your initial consultation before recieving the retention, she is so unprofessional please avoid her and the whole group, it was horrible experience

Edna Sprague was recently cautioned by the NM Supreme Court Disciplinary Board regarding false statements she made in court. She is dangerous, stay away.

I worked with Tatiana Engelmann on my divorce and was very happy with her professionalism, communication, and results. If I ever had a need for a family attorney in Albuquerque again she would be my first call.

Tatiana Engelmann is the best lawyer I know. She represented me in a family law issue and went above and beyond her call of duty. I would recommend Tatiana to anyone who needs a divorce lawyer, a family law issue, or any other issue. Tatiana worked my case the entire time I was overseas and I could not have asked for a better lawyer. The most likeable attribute Tatiana has is that she listens to you and always acts with your best intensions in mind. Do not look any farther then Tatiana!!

Tatiana Engelmann was absolutely incredible throughout our custody battle. She was fair, professional, respectful, knowledgeable, and always available to help. The process was seamless thanks to her relentless efforts. I would highly recommend her services. I hope to work with her again soon in our future adoptions.

Divorce is a terrible experience. If you find yourself there it is important to have an advocate by your side. Tatiana is that advocate. She treats her clients with compassion and understanding and champions their case inside the courtroom. She works hard to move your case along so you can move on with your life.

Ms. Engelmann was very knowledgeable, professional and showed much care and compassion during all stages of my son's parental custody case. I appreciated her representation and would highly recommend her to anyone seeking legal counsel involving family law.

Tatiana Engelmann represented me and will probably represent me again in the future if I need. She has a brilliant mind and goes above and beyond for her client. I am very happy to have worked with her.

Would rate less than one star if able. I will be paying for my poor choice of divorce attorney for the rest of my life. Maybe there are other attorneys in this firm who may be good, but why risk everything to find out. Anywhere else, including legal aid, would be a better bet.

These people are really not detail oriented at all. Multiple factual errors in our divorce settlement causing a lot of unnecessary fighting. After the divorce, they continue to botch simple things like correct mailing address; nearly causing me to miss a court date.

Scary, Scary step...
Bob Matteucci became my strength during this process.

If you have any questions or doubts when it comes to this difficult time, give Bob a call. With him you will find an ally, a gentle warrior and an unwaivering voice of sensibility. Life really can be wonderful again!!

Dear Sir or Madam:

I offer my highest recommendation to you of Mr. Robert Matteucci, an attorney at the firm of Atkinson & Kelsey, PA.

Mr. Matteucci represented me in a divorce and child custody case. My case was given to him after my original attorney left the firm. Mr. Matteucci was very thorough in his representation. He reviewed my past court proceedings and the information in my file, then proceeded to prepare me for a custody hearing that would soon take place. I was understandably concerned that my original attorney was no longer at the firm, but Mr. Matteucci quickly earned my respect and trust by the professional and knowledgeable way in which he represented me before, during, and after the hearing. He offered his professional counsel, offered suggestions on what to expect in court and options available, and offered to assist me with paperwork that I could handle on my own.

Mr. Matteucci and I had, and still have a good working relationship. I will not hesitate to contact him again in the future should I need his services. He truly cared about me as a person and for the welfare of my three children. He also showed concern and honesty in presented facts and how the results of the hearing would affect my life.

I assure you that Mr. Matteucci is one who listens to his client's needs and concerns, and engages with genuine integrity. His professionalism is based on building a personal relationship with his clients, and to walk through every step with you including
the aftermath. To this point, I received communication from Mr. Matteucci even a month
after everything was finalized. He simply wanted to know how my children and I were coping. That level of true interest in his clients is just one of many attributes you will find in Mr. Matteucci. Again, I give Mr. Robert Matteucci my wholehearted recommendation.

Sincerely,
Bryan Bentley

When seeking legal representation in family law it is critical to find a person who is empathetic, professional, detailed, and thorough. Mr. Matteucci helped us with a custody case and although I do not have a legal background it is my opinion that Robert Matteucci is the best in the business and has effective command and control of the courtroom. Mr. Matteucci is willing to answer all of your questions and was very honest and open with us about our case, making sure that we always knew what was going on. Mr. Matteccui worked quickly and diligently on our case to ensure that there were no last second surprises with the case and unlike so many other lawyers Mr. Matteuci’s goal is to win your case as quickly and efficiently as possible therefore saving you money. There are not enough words to describe the degree of satisfaction that our family has with Robert and the results of our custody case. Over the course of our case we always felt that we were getting our money’s worth and I now consider Robert a friend. A legal battle left us unsure of which law firm to use but after working with Robert and his support staff rest assured if there is ever any other need in our family we will not hesitate to use him again.

Thanks, Wayne and Pam Bradley

Mr. Robert P. Matteucci represented me in my 'collaborative' divorce. He was responsive to my requests and explained every step of the process such that I always felt comfortable that I understood the options and confident that he would both follow my guidelines as well as protect my interests. Bob effectively represented me and was efficient in applying his efforts to the case such that I felt that his time was always well spent. Interacting with Bob was pleasant as he was generally available, and easy to get along with, plus he always remembered who the client was and did not try to push the effort in ways that I didn't want. In the end, the settlement I got was fair, and I believe that multiple aspects of it were decided more favorably to me as a result the efforts and initiative of Mr. Matteucci.

I hired Mary Ann Burmester and paid a retainer for her to finalize issues after my divorce, almost six months later she has done no work on my case and I can't get any updates. No communication, and she doesn't seem to know about basic QDRO issues, am firing her and will hire someone else. My experience is that divorce attorneys in ABQ are terrible! My ex had New Mexico Legal Group; they weren't great but at least they were responsive.

I had the extremely good fortune to be represented by Patrick McDaniel, with Atkinson & Kelsey, in a divorce case brought on by my (now) ex-wife & her Smalltown, NM attorney.

The case was:
1.) Important to me because of implications relating to custody,
2.) Complicated by the fact that I live in a different state than New Mexico,
3.) Filed in a court hours outside of the Albuquerque area, and
4.) Presented to Mr. McDaniel with only days left to respond.

Respond, he did - and with stunning precision, I might add.

Its only looking back, knowing what I know now, that I can fully appreciate what a brilliant legal tactician Mr. McDaniel is. The thing that made Mr. McDaniel worth every penny in this case was his extraordinary knowledge and experience with cases involving jurisdictional issues. During the course of our initial consultation (over the phone), I went from having nothing but question marks, to having a good understanding of what the terms "personal jurisdiction," "subject matter jurisdiction" and "child's home state" meant because Mr. McDaniel made the effort to explain what they are, and how they affect me. Additionally, he knew precisely what we both needed to do and was very clear when explaining my course of action before we hung up.

The Final Score:
Mr. McDaniel - 1
Smalltown, NM attorney - 0

The End Result:
I now have permanent near-daily contact with my son in our hometown.

Thank you, Mr. McDaniel, for a happy conclusion to a very troubling time for a father and his son.
