I made it early. A receptionist was there. I did the paperwork before the attorney arrived. My issues are simple. I signed over my guardianships in 1999 to my father. As a result of an ongoing lawsuit from when I was a child, I was advised to sign over the guardianship of the estate. I did.
That made my father the guardian of the person of me. Arkansas has many laws that go along with guardianship. Since I signed my guardianship over in 1999, I lost the right to vote until the guardian of the person goes to court to regain it for me. I learned that 2 year ago. So did he when I told him. I still am not able to vote. Another thing exists that I will not share. He wants me to find an apartment and move. That is impossible without my legal guardianship.
I consulted with an attorney. He listened and suggested I go to the Department of Human Services at Main St & 7th St. I did. They do not handle my issue. That was a method to say leave.

I was refereed to this law firm to help me with an appeal case. After calling and speaking to the lady at the front for 15 minutes about my case, she put me on hold to see if one of the attorneys was interested in meeting with me. When we walked into the office for our appointment, there was no one at the front. So we stood there patiently waiting. After waiting for a few minutes and no one helped us, I popped my head around the corner into a office where someone was sitting (which just so happened to be the attorney we had an appointment with) to let him know that we were there for an appointment and no one had came to help us yet. He appeared to be very upset that I bothered him by his tonality, but came out and gave us some paperwork to fill out. Once we stepped back into his office and sat down, it was a disaster. Absolutely no organization and there was boxes of paperwork everywhere. However, we still went ahead with discussing the issue of our case. Right off the bat he told us that we didn't have a case without even looking at any of our documentation. Finally about 5 minutes in to explaining our situation he decided to actually look at our paperwork. At this time he agreed that the judgement against us didn't make sense. That's when he started telling us how expensive it was going to be for him to take the case, but that he did think that we had a good shot at getting the judgement over-turned. When we didn't budge at the price (because we know we're in the right) he started skating around the fact that he just wasn't interested in taking our case. Instead of just telling us that he wasn't interest in taking our case because of the amount of work it would require for him, he just told us we would be better off going down to UALR Law School to get a law school student to council us. WHAT?! We had a case (in his opinion), and money wasn't an issue so we were confused as to why he was trying to turn us away. So of course we consulted another attorney (not law student); this time one that was more experienced with our specific situation. Not only was this attorney more than willing to take our case, but the information provided to us by the attorney at Madden Law Firm was far the legal constitutions regarding our case.

Madden Law Firm's Attorney John Holstein is much more amenable than Attorney Matt McKay at Robertson Law Firm. I have a couple traffic violations I need sorted out. Attorney Holstein took the time to listen to me and explain to me what steps I need to take to sort myself out and followed up with specific information on when to call in an attorney! Obviously I will call on him and tell everyone I know to call Attorney John Holstein too!
