Change of attorney caused lapse of information and support. Was not notified of changeover and had never even met this person causing a great lack of support.
I would not recommend this law office to anyone. First, a little background, I am not a person that has been in and out of the court system. I do not 'stay in trouble' or anything like that. I had an incident a few years ago come up with an ex-wife. The law was called and I was carried to jail. Later, after I had went to court the arresting officer stated that if he had slowed down and listened to what actually happened he would have taken the other party to jail and not me, but I guess the police get so many calls about domestic that they jump to conclusions.
Now about the law office: I made an appointment and spoke to the paralegal about my matter. she was very professional and seemed sympathetic to my plight. The trouble started when I never actually spoke to Mr. Dempsey himself. I made several attempts to speak with him, but his paralegal told me each time that Mr. Dempsey had already taken care of my situation and I need not do anything else except show up on my court date. How ignorant I was. . I thought that the case would be thrown out. That is what 'taken care of' meant to me. I get to court and he tells me that he has me a deferred judgment and that I must plead guilty to the offense. This is late in the day when he tells me this and everyone else had been processed through court that day except the people represented by Mr. Dempsey. The District Attorney is gone for the day and the judge tells me that I can take this deal or plead not guilty and begin trial. Since the DA was gone, the judge tells me these are my only options. I feel like I was left with no option and felt like I had no representation. I honestly feel like I would have been better off by not having a lawyer and speaking with the DA myself.
