I was initially very skeptical that my friend had hired an out of town attorney to handle the looming DWI charge that they faced. However, after seeing Ashley Cannon in action, both during the jury selection and in defending them through the trial, I will attest that she is worth every penny paid to her and then some! Her knowledge of the case details and the very lengthy dash camera footage from the patrol car were evident in how freely she spoke in cross examining the officers that were on site. She thought of questions that would never have occurred to me to ask, but effectively introduced the necessary "reasonable doubt" without disrespecting or abusing the witnesses. She took a case that we had assumed would be a total loss and turned it into a Not Guilty verdict. Her great care in educating the jury about their duty to uphold every element of the burden of proof upon the district attorney to establish the guilt of the defendant, who was, as she reminded them, "innocent until proven guilty", not vice versa, resulted in a victory after a relatively short jury deliberation. One would expect that such a "Not Guilty" verdict would draw disapproval from the other side. On the contrary, it was evident that all members of the opposition held her in high regard and one of the DAs went so far as to say she is one of the "best defense attorneys in the state of North Carolina". Such an accolade would rightly be accompanied by tremendous amounts of arrogance, but not with Ms. Cannon. I was most impressed that she took the time to converse with us during the breaks, going so far as to obtain our "fresh insight" into the evidence that had been presented because she had watched it so many times before and wanted to know if we had new viewpoints to offer her. I greatly appreciated the care that she demonstrated in explaining her rationale behind deciding which charges to plead to and which to push toward trial. She made no promises of outcomes, and even prepared us for the possibility of the worst case scenario, but in the end, what we received was better than what we had dared to hope for. May you never need a defense attorney, but if you do, I do not have enough thumbs up to convey just how impressed I am with this one.

I have cried a pound of happy tears as this wonderful Attorney and her kind compassionate staff came to my rescue and fought for me! Attorney Ashley returned every email almost immediately and her Admin Assistant’s were so kind to me in my darkest time. Hands down worst attorney I’ve ever had. She didn’t even show up to one of my court dates and the DA had to call and find out where she was. I paid a lot of money for her and she didn’t help me in any way. I probably would have been better representing myself. I highly recommend you go with another attorney.

Don't take Ms Cannon's word that she has done what she said she has done. Go check the court records to make sure it has been done. Because she did not re-secure my son's bond, after another attorney told her it had to be re-secured, then assuring us several times that it had been done, all the days that would have counted toward his release did not and he has to serve 4 more months in jail because of her failure to re-secure his bond for a level 1. This mistake is now causing him to miss his daughter's high school graduation. After his sentencing she told me, my daughter and her office even said she told them after court he would only have to serve a couple more days. When we looked at the state system and called her for an explanation because he had 4 months added, she then denied she told us he would only have to serve a couple more days. Hard to believe an attorney that was paid was this negligent in such a small task. I am sorry I had to write this kind of review, however, I believe the public should be made aware of the good and not so good before hiring an attorney to represent themselves.

Ashley Cannon didn't really help because of four charges was innocents and put in my records. She doesn't care try fight prove that I'm innocent. I'm not happy as long as these innocent charges on my records forever and ever til I died.

Absolutely do not hire Ashley cannon she will tell you what she is going to do to help you, get your money and completely do the opposite. You would be better off representing yourself.

She is a horrible lawyer she will not take the time to speak with her clients even if you call her office several times a day and nobody ever calls back even when they say they will...and she also doesn't communicate with you before your court date to even let you know what is going to happen when you go in front of the judge. I wouldn't recommend her to my enemies lol...best lawyer in Iredell county is Bill Baity...he will communicate and take care of business and isnt very expensive

We had court the other day and had hired cannon.. She told us that her assistant would be there for us day of court and to look for her, which we did. Guess what?? No sign of her anywhere. If she was there, which we are unsure of, she should've acknowledged that she was there for us. So many things could've taken a wrong turn. All she was there for was to get the case dismissed, as she had said. But the case would've gotten dismissed without her too. You see, she had told us she spoke with the mediator and the DA but the mediator didn't even know we had an attorney. So really, if she was there, what was she there for?? Don't hire someone who is just going to steal your money, tell you that she will be there for you, and then make it a point to assure you that she had lived up to her obligation as an attorney which she did not.

All she's after is money. Everyone that asks me about Cannon I let them know she is the worst attorney in Iredell. obviously she needs money more than we do if she is going to scam us out of money even her peers talk bad about her just ask any of them in Iredell County.
