Hired Ms. Burke to represent my son in a personal matter. Because of issues with his car, he was approximately 15 minutes late for the first court date. She responded in a very unprofessional and verbally abusive matter. The first court date was continued.
On the second court date, a person showed up to court from her office approximately 1-1/2 hours late...a person which he had never met and did not know. Not sure if they were even an attorney. Because of this persons negligence, he had to represent himself for the second court date. I released her from representation because of this.
Sometime after firing her, she called to let me know that she would not be representing my son any longer...I'm guessing to cover her massive mistake and also to cover some sort of legal attorney/client obligation. She did keep the entire $3200 charged for representing him...never offered compensation. Very, unprofessional...and greedy. BEWARE!!!

Meghann was awesome to work with and from the consultation the very first time, I liked the way she spoke and was very confident in what she knew and what she did. When I got in some trouble I had another attorney tell me a good outcome was not very probable and I had lost hope but when I went to Meghann she knew her stuff and helped me out so much. I've recommended her to others that have asked for an attorney in the area.

I think Bill Brazil is skillful and brilliant! He helped me settle a dispute that was going on for over 4 years with no resolution, except court...in sight. I recommend him highly!
Used this law firm for Adult Legal name change service - I wanted to add back my maiden name and my mother's maiden name to my existing name.
Things to know: You can do the name change on your own for free, with the exception of the court filing fee of $120, this is known as Adult Name Change NC Pro Se.
However, due to my very busy schedule and as a mother to 3 sons I selected going the Law Firm route out of convenience, but just know that this is not inexpensive considering you do the vast majority of the work up front. The firm charges $600 for the service however, you need to be aware that it is actually you who needs to do 90% of the work by obtaining the following documents to bring to your appointment: recent certified copy of your birth certificate, copies of your current IDs, you need to get fingerprinted at the county's detention center and submit and wait for the printed results in the mail from 2 background checks - one is for the state of NC SBI (State Bureau of Investigation) and the other from the FBI (finger print cards incur a fee as well as the 2 background checks), 2 Affidavits of Good Character notarized from 2 different persons that reside in your same county. Once you have all of those in your possession, then you are given an appointment to meet with the attorney.
I met with Margaret Teich who was very cordial/professional. I also met their paralegal Katie Sorel who was very nice and professional and very knowledgeable about the process. I expected to be asked to give a 50% deposit at that meeting however I was told that my file would not be processed until I paid the balance in full - to me this made no sense as I could have just waited with all the paperwork I obtained on my own until it was easier on me financially by having the entire $600 ready to pay. I ended up paying the full amount at that meeting as I did not want to delay processing of my case (I asked my mom for a loan).
In the end, it took about a month or so and I heard back from Ms Teich that my name change was approved by the court and she advised my certified paperwork was ready for pick up. This was the best aspect of the service knowing that after all the work I did on my end, I did not need to do anything else and the law firm handled the court details for me.
I give this personal experience with this law firm 5 stars because for me it was worth it out of convenience and there were no issues after I handed all the paper work I collected. I made sure that all the paper work was included and even added some additional documentation to support my file.
On the other hand, if you are a person that has lots of time and flexibility, you can do this on your own and save a big chunk of money - therefore in the end, it depends on your situation - for me, my time is money and valuable and this experience made sense for my needs.

I have had the great pleasure of knowing Attorney Burke and am so thankful for Brazil and Burke and their legal services. They came through for our family when we needed them most and we are forever thankful! When it comes to an attorney being on your side and helping you, or your family, it is more than just money and a check, there is caring and compassion from them, and it shows.

Our experience with Corey Atkins of Brazil & Burke was exceptional. We had cases in two counties that were resolved with the highest degree of professionalism. Corey's previous experience as an Assistant District Attorney provides him with unique knowledge and relationships enabling him to resolve issues quickly and collaboratively.
I wholeheartedly recommend this firm!

We required the services of Brazil & Burke for the purchase of a business in Black Mountain, NC. Corey Atkins was a pleasure to work with-very accessible, attentive and detail oriented. Everything went very smoothly and we would highly recommend both Corey and his firm. Very professional!
