Definitely recommend checking out the Carolina student legal services. If you need any legal advice or help with anything, I would ask for Lauren Shoffner. She has been extremely helpful in regards to my case and her kindness and service was exceptional.

Hi everyone, I wanted to thank to Carolina Student Legal Services and appreciate their endeavors for me at UNC at Chapel Hill. I wanted to share a bit of how I was stressful and how they helped me. During undergraduate days in UNC at Chapel Hill, I faced with a tough situation like separation, custody, and finally divorce who I was very confused and did not know what should I do until one of my advisors introduced me Carolina Student Legal Services to get help with. After referring to this office I got the most hope and help that I even could not think about it. These nice lawyers and attorneys helped me with every step of court process. They did all the paper works and they did whatever that it should be done in any court process. Without their help I think, I could not finish my school. I friendly recommend other students who may face some problems during their school time like me, this nice and friendly place as a resource for them because I know how these situations affect students life. I would say them Carolina Student Legal Services is the first and great place that they can get the most beautiful results as well as help. Finally, I want to say that with their affection, I have finished all the process without paying attorney costs and beyond that saving the time to focus on my school who I could eventually finish my degree. The people here are super helpful and informative. The lady I worked with was very thorough and got all of my (child custody) documents in order. The whole process went very smoothly. Best of all, it was free because I'm a student. :)

If you don't know this already you should. Any full time UNC student can get free legal advice here for most things. There are a few exceptions. There are three full time lawyers here and they are really great and helpful. One awesome thing they can do is look over a lease for you before you sign it to see if there are any tricks in it. Also they can help you get your security deposit back from an unscrupulous landlord. Definitely call them first if you are a student in need of any legal help. If nothing else they can at least point you in the right direction.
