They did not provide basic information for handling a Deed of Trust on a real estate sale. I contacted another attorney who gave me the statutes governing this situation. Someone emailed (no formal bill) from Mewborn saying I owed them $500 for their incomplete, inaccurate and erroneous work. I refused to pay and contacted them and explained my costs in contacting another attorney and also provided them with the appropriate statute that they should have given me so they could apply it to future clients. They sent a bill to the closing company and had it included in the closing paperwork without prior notification. So there was no way to dispute the bill without negating the closing. Sneaky, no integrity and frankly they don't have a grasp of the North Carolina Statutes.

I have been using Mewborn & DeSelms for several years, and have never been disappointed! I most frequently use them for real estate, but I've also used them for corporate documents, wills, even speeding tickets. The staff there is fantastic, and I've always had great experiences. I highly recommend!

Outrage in Onslow County. Attorney Mewborn Greed forces foreclosures
The lawyer hired by the county is charging the citizens $1,350 if they are a little late on their 2017 property taxes. Notices have not even been sent. Attorney Christopher Mewborn in Jacksonville has done nothing but you still must pay him $1,350 per piece of property in full. Dealing myself in property this is an outrageous fee for not even a notice being sent by his office. Harry Smith the county tax administrator told me the attorney could charge any fee, even $5,000. Many many people Will lose their homes by these fees. Many only owe a couple hundred and now must pay this greedy Attorney Mewborn in full to stop the foreclosure. Called Attorney Christopher L. Mewborn office today 7-24-18 to discuss and was told by Rachel there is no way to ever get him on the phone or appointment. Ever. I have been trying to contact since Friday 7-20-18 the day after they received the information from the county. It is an outrage.

Hate the fact that 1 star is the worst you can give. This law firm deserves a negative star for the treatment , or shall I say lack of treatment I received. I guess I am not rich enough or dont know the right people cause looking back at my whole real estate transaction that what it was all about the $$$ and I mean the parties involved getting paid and that's all. From the beginning this attorney wasnt flexible with the closing time. I work 8-5 and wanted a 510pm closing if possible , but no way . So I agreed to come on my lunch and attny told my realtor it would like 35 mins because I get 1 hr for lunch and needed it done withing about 45 mins . I get to the closing no attny is present , the paralegal starts the closing like 15 mins or more late, the attny never shows his or her face to say like congrats on your home or thanks for the business . They lack customer service and frankly just dont seem to care .

I usually don't give one star reviews. I'm going to keep it simple since this guy is a lawyer. My experience there was not a pleasant one. It is my opinion that you shop around before choosing this particular business. Again this is just one person's opinion. Have a nice day!
