After the USCIS denied my son’s Adjustment of Status (due to the mishandling paper of our first immigration lawyer), Timothy D. Widman helped us turn around and win this difficult case with a green card granted to my son.

In 2000, my son went to the US to study as an international student. In 2007, my husband sponsored him for an Adjustment of Status under an I130. My son was also eligible under Section 245i from an old I130 filed by my brother in 1994. In 2015, with the helped of a first lawyer, who mishandled the paper, my son’s failed the interview to have his status adjusted.

After interviewing with many more lawyers who denied handling the case, admitted successful rate is low, Timothy was the only one who was confident and accepted the case. Even though, after 22 years, we lost most of the document from my brother old I130, Tim recognized some weak-evidence document as valuable information that we have on file to use to request reopening of the adjustment denial. Tim wrote a very strong and persuasive declaration to the USCIS revealing my son’s eligibility under Section 245i and successfully had our previously denied case reopened. He then submitted an I-485A form (which is a mistake from our first lawyer who submitted an incomplete application). At the same time, Timothy helped us submit a FOIA to the Department of State to request all immigration papers associating with my son. Two months after the case reopened, USCIS approved my son’s case. My son got his green card that came in the mail.
