Mr Chew was non-judgmental but also personable and made me feel like I could reach out to him whatever time of day. Despite his heavy caseload he made sure to take the time to make sure whatever needs or questions I had at the time were addressed and always feeling re-assured and in good hands. His communication, follow-ups, and depth of knowledge was simply amazing.
Mr Chew is also extremely experienced with the court system and was able to leverage his rapport with the prosecutors, DAs, and judges to ensure I was getting the best outcome. It is unclear whether a lawyer without prior experience working in these specific court systems could've yielded a better outcome.
I think the case could've easily gone south had I not gone through this ordeal with Mr Chew. I honestly had not expected this level of service given the pricing. Mr Chew went above and beyond his call of duty. I am extremely releived to have done the research when searching for representation. It does make a difference.
Thank you Mr Chew!
Jonah was very understanding and made sure that we understood process and why things had to happen. As we began the process, he made sure to include him for any court appearances, and also strategized with him on a weekly basis to make sure they made the best case in court. My brother's case was quite unique as it soon became the oldest active case in Redwood City, making Jonah show up to court about 50-60 times total.
He is actively provided updates and professional advice so that we could make the best decisions.
I would not go with anyone else in the bay area, but Jonah, as I have seen his commitment to his clients, even his family. I hold Jonah to a very high regard, as he treated us like family.
charged. Conviction of any of the charges would have had devastating consequences.
After six months of work, he was able to work out a very satisfactorily misdemeanor deal"
Sometimes, good people find themselves in a tough situation. DUIs happen and when they do, they are costly, time-consuming and down-right scary as hell.
My husband was charged with a second DUI involving an accident with two other motorists in SF. Luckily, no one was hurt, but he was still facing felony charges (with jail time) for having a high BAC and committing a second offense while just being shy of completing the probation period from his first DUI.
We called Jonah after reading rave reviews, and can 100% say that Jonah *is* the lawyer you're looking for.
RESULTS: My husband's case was dropped from a felony to a misdemeanor. He spent three days doing SWAP and avoided any jail time. He was able to drive again, sooner than expected (with an IID.) My husband's employer never found out about his DUI because Jonah coordinated his monthly court dates with his days off. We are currently looking into reducing his probation requirements now that his DUI school has been completed. This is only possible if you hire a GREAT lawyer.
HOW JONAH'S DIFFERENT:
- he works *directly* with you and your case
- he is *very* responsive (via phone, text and email)
- he has a great personality - is honest and genuinely cares about you, and funny too
- he knows to share just enough with you regarding your next court date to keep you calm and collected.... he will guide you throughout your process so you can try to live as normal of a life until your case is settled
- his appearance is sharp, clean and he has the mental toughness you need to win in court
- and more importantly, he is one of the most well-connected criminal defense lawyers in SF. He knows the judges, public defendants and the system very, very well. Ask any one of them and they will speak of him in high regard.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
- listen to what Jonah says and just do it. If you need to live in a residential treatment program to not only fix a problem that you may have, do it and go above and beyond. It'll be good for you personally, and the results of your case.
- You will be shooting yourself in the foot if you pass on hiring Jonah.
Whether it be your first, second or third DUI, Jonah knows his craft very well.
Months after our case was finished, we happened to run into Jonah at a ballgame and he gave us two big hugs. (It was great seeing him outside of his suit.) If you can't already tell by all the reviews, he's practically Superman.
Back in NY, we'd say he's "one, helluva guy." We are grateful for him.
We don't write reviews, but created Yelp accounts just so we can write one for Jonah. Hope this review helps someone who's on the fence.
Jonah is responsive. He and I met the same day I contacted him. In fact, he postponed family plans to meet me late after court. He took me on as his client immediately and I just knew I was in good hands and with the best. Once I was his client, he returned my message within the hour, and if for some reason he can't, he always let me know when he could. He regularly updated me and I always had status.
Jonah and his Private Investigator will exceed your expectations. Never once did they make me feel embarrassed or ashamed. They made it very clear that they represent me and went above and beyond to investigate my case and gather facts I didn't even think of.
His professionalism, and warm demeanor got me through each appearance. Not to mention, he's pretty funny and always brought a smile to my face.
Jonah's expertise combined with his relations with the District Attorney's office are quite impressive. Everyone that knows him has the upmost respect for him.
Not only was my case dismissed with no record, I now have a lifetime attorney and friend. You want Jonah Chew to defend you.
This review is for Jonah Chew. This was our family's first experience with a lawyer. With so many options and the difficult circumstances of the case, it seemed daunting to settle for ONE attorney to advocate for our family member. Based on a combination of Jonah's experience and education, track record, professionalism, and personality we trusted him as the most qualified for the best outcome; we do not regret our decision! Jonah guided us through the entire process, giving us invaluable advice and instilling confidence even before we officially hired him. Jonah is very reliable and responsive; you'll never have to wait long to hear back from him through phone, text, or email.
The Case: Multiple DUI's...
This 2nd DUI, within a 10-year period, resulted in an auto-collision. Our family member had a (potential) 3rd DUI that fell out of the 10-year period, but nonetheless was unfavorable as it is still on the driving record.
The Outcome: A Very Favorable Sentence...
Jonah and his team achieved the most favorable sentence considering the circumstances. In lieu of jail time and a hefty fine, the sentence included: 8 days of community service, a reasonable fine, completion of an 18-month OHS program, and license suspension (unavoidable) for just 1 year. Note: Jonah also successfully negotiated the removal of an expensive alcohol-monitoring (SCRAM) device.
Alongside his extensive experience, professionalism, legal knowledge, exceptional energy, and well-deserved confidence; he is open, understanding, and non-judgmental. He also offers a quick wit and a unique sense of humor, helping to relieve my substantial stress along my frightening journey.
I made a mistake. I made an irresponsible choice one night (after drinking heavily-surprise, surprise!) and, as a result, I was in big trouble with the law. Unfortunately, I needed a good criminal attorney. Immediately upon meeting Jonah, I felt like I was in good hands. And, I was.
Jonah’s results were miraculous to me and better than I had expected. On top of that, he responded quickly and clearly to all my questions and concerns and often welcomed, and then, almost always, relieved my worries.
If finding yourself in the scary situation of needing excellent criminal representation, I cannot recommend Jonah Chew more highly. He told me he would take care of me. And, he did.
My case was a DUI, but marijuana related. I went through a checkpoint after work, and was stopped because my car "smelled". I passed the sobriety tests, but they also measured my pulse. Who's pulse wouldn't increase with 10 cops and a bunch of bright lights around you? My car was towed, and I was arrested. I was completely sober the whole time I was detained.
As soon as I hired Jonah, he immediately faxed the DMV to contest since my license was taken. After a few long business days, I got mail from the DMV saying that I can get my license! My arraignment was postponed because Jonah met with the DA prior. After being anxious waiting for the results, I eventually get mail saying everything was dropped. Jonah was amazing and very informative the whole time, making you feel comfortable about everything. You get way more than what you pay for.
