I was extremely disappointed with our experience. We were referred to Lori by a local attorney. I described to her assistant in detail that we needed help making decisions--based, I thought, primarily on the tax consequences--regarding my elderly mother's estate, and selling her home or other assets to raise the funds needed to pay for her care. She assured me that Lori could help.
She was wrong.
While Lori was pleasant enough (she's a bit of a 'character'), she seemed distracted and in a hurry. Her inner and outer offices are cluttered and do not give a very professional or organized impression. Lori reviewed the paperwork we'd been asked to bring, made a few comments, and asked a few questions. More than once she qualified whatever she said, or answered our questions, with "You need to see a tax accountant." She wasn't able to suggest a way to pay for the care my mom needs, and didn't seem interested in even trying. To my astonishment, she said that she was not aware of the $250,000 deduction for principle residence. When I finally was so disappointed and shocked that I protested and said "I thought YOU were a tax accountant!" she clarified that she was an attorney, and, while she apparently is also a CPA, does not specialize or even keep up with tax laws and planning, or the consequences. (This still confuses me, since it seems that's what she's still advertising and is known for.) I told her how disappointed I was, and that I'd specifically asked when making the appointment if she was the appropriate professional, but she brushed me off.
It was a single, expensive (almost $500) appointment that we'd waited a month to get, and that we left without an answer, or even good advice, except again, the recommendation to find and consult a good tax accountant. She did not offer to follow up on any of our questions.
We're looking for another resource, and may just go with one of the large local firms. But when Lori Silver's name kept popping up in my search, I decided that I'd better write a review. I don't know how we could have avoided this particular mistake, but maybe we can help someone else from making it, too.

I trust Lori Silver - to do our taxes perfectly. We have had complex financial matters that we needed help with, and a friend (thanks Jane!) recommended Lori to us. Great to work with - and truly expert (CPA and Tax Attorney!).
