Wasn't pleased

If I could rate these guys a negative star, I would. They don't deserve all the good reviews they have. I can see that everyone who has given them a good rating probably had their case approved because that's the only client's they take. They only fight easy cases they can win. In my case after waiting two years and an attorney who left to work in another field, Downard & Associates dropped me. They dropped me after making me wait 4 extra months, without any letters, or any phone calls giving me information in the process of my case. See, im a veteran, injured on active duty, so I'm different than everyone. I have no choice on the insurance or medical benefits I recieve other than the VA. I don't care about the money, I just want the same benefits as every other civilian out there. I mean, I assumed I deserved at least that for going what I've been through, but nope. Now when I need someone to help me the most these attorneys turn their backs on me?? Why, because my case isn't easy enough for them?? That's all I have to say. Good luck to everyone who really does need these benefits.

We first filed for disability 2 years ago without a lawyer and was denied. Then I called Downard and Associates. The process is long and discouraging but I encourage you to hang in there because you will not be disappointed. We went to court November 19, and the Judge said it would be well over the holidays before we had his decision but it was exactly 1 week before Christmas when we got the good news. LAZY, INCOMPETENT, and possibly guilty of LEGAL MALPRACTICE. Did not get all of my wife's medical records as they stated they would, then dropped her case for "lack of medical records" six days before a date for final review was scheduled. (And informed her by cc'ing her on the letter to the SSA rescinding representation. As classy as they are competent.) Too close to the final review for any other lawyer to be willing to take the case. Will be filing a TN Bar Association complaint tomorrow.

I applied for my social security benefits in February 2018, and was referred by a friend that had used Downard & Associates previously. I took my friends advice and contacted the law office and needless to say I was approved for my disability in July 2018. The office staff were friendly and very dedicated to helping me each time I called them back r they contacted me . I frequently talked to Samantha and just let me say she is awesome. My attorney fee was reasonable and their sincerity helping me was wonderful. I would gladly recommend them to anyone seeking help in obtaining their disability. Thank y'all so very very much .

The firm was really friendly I didn't meet them until the day of my hearing but they did keep in contact to go over all information. I really would recommend them they are great, they WON my case and I really appreciated that.

I had them for my disabilty claim. Never spoke to anyone but a woman from the start. They got me to the Hearing appeal level. Got a letter from the Hearing office director and I call them asked if I was suppose to do anything with the paper work. The woman said no they would do it. Next thing I know I get a letter from this lawer saying they withdrawed with no explanation. Now I'm hung trying to find a lawer!!! This just isn't right.

Before I wrote this I read other reviews and find them hard to believe. We have actually applied for disability twice, both times using Downard and associates. Why we didn't change after the first go around I don't know, bad decision. On both occasions when it came time to actually get medical records they told me all they could do was ask for them. Both times I had to get them myself. On more than one occasion they filled out paperwork incorrectly. We had to demand to actually speak to an actual attorney as opposed to a secretary. In 6 years we had one 30-40 min meeting with an attorney after insisting on it. The information we were given on many occasions was misleading and in some cases caused us to make decisions we would have made differently had they actually explained the process completely. We have now been denied for the final time, work credits have expired so we can not file again. We were notified by SS almost two months ago and HAVE NOT HEARD ONE WORD FROM DOWNARD AND ASSOCIATES! Not a word. They have never cared about us, our situation, our case and what a better way to prove it! They are not professional and left me wondering if those representing people at hearings are even actually attorneys.

I applied for disability in early 2017 and was turned down, filed an appeal and still didn't win. Then I decided it was time to hire an attorney. I went to an advice board online and asked for recommendations, researched the two firms mentioned and decided on Downard. From the first day, they did everything by phone. We saved SO much time this way! When you are ill, it is very difficult and exhausting to drive to meetings. It was hard work getting all the medical information gathered on and off throughout the year, but in the end it all paid off when I went before the judge, and I won my case. Robert Parker was our lawyer, and he was friendly, kind and understanding of the situation.

I filed for my SSI a while ago, after I got denials once with another lawyer she was against me not with me. But I seen David downward & associates on television, I said let me try him because I was not giving up. If I gave up that's where I would be felling at. I received a court date. Thank God I got approved for my disability. They were with me every step of the way always a step ahead of me letting me know my doctors appointments, and sending me forms to fill out. They always reassured me that I had a strong case but before I received a letter from Social Security stating fully favorable I just couldn't believe it. This office came highly recommended to me by someone involved with disability hearings, so I was impressed with the statistics listed on your website and decided that I would go with your office and have an attorney help with my claim prior to my new hearing date in June. I spoke with a Mike Jensen who took down a lot of my personal information then asked for my email address because there is a form that I needed to fill out and return it to your office ASAP so that a decision could quickly be made as to whether your office would take me on as a client. I explained that my case is pretty much a slam dunk because I had already taken care of as much as possible. So I waited & waited on the previously mentioned email and after several hours passed, I made a 3rd call (which I intended on being my last attempt) when the receptionist put me on hold while she spoke with Mike. When she came back to me she informed me that Mike had put this information in the mail to me rather than emailing it: so I insisted that she ask him to email this to me as time is of the essence and instead of her returning back to me I was sent to the voice mail of someone by the name of Veronica so I hung up and initiated a FOURTH call and before my calll was answered I was receiving another call from your office so I answered it and it was Veronica who ever so rudely told me that your office would not be interested in accepting my case and I said you must be kidding to which in her continued rudeness said “NO! I AM NOT KIDDING!” So I said ok that’s fine and hung up! I feel like a decision was made to not take my case simply because I was insisting upon having paperwork emailed to me rather than waiting on regular mail! So I will be forwarding this information to the person who referred your office to me so that she will no longer refer clients to your practice and I will be sure to let everyone that I know, to NEVER contact your office! I am so over pathetic employees who are either incompetent, uninterested or just don’t care to do the job for which they are being paid to do! I have never been so upset by such rudeness toward a potential client! This office should MOST DEFINITELY NOT BE INCLUDED IN THE BBB (which may be my next call) because your office is deplorable! I feel as though my case wasn't taken as seriously as it should have been. I also feel as though I was misinformed throughout my case and the misinformation lead to my case being denied. After my appeal was denied they dropped me and my case. Not to happy with this place I would reccomend looking around more before deciding on a place to represent you in your fight for disability.

Downard&Associates helped my daughter Ksenia to win a SSDI in less than a year since she applied, just by staying on top of things. She didn't have to go to court but had to appeal once, when she got rejected initially. Highly recommend this lawyer's office, they helped her all the steps of the way, sending her forms to fill out, informing her that her case was approved and she just needed to go to the Social Security office not to be denied because they, apparently, "couldn't reach her" (but were able to send rejection letters which she kept receiving)

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!! They are ridiculously unprofessional, two weeks before my hearing I got a letter in the mail saying they was dropping me as a client with no explanation whatsoever! I only ever got to talk to them a handful times on the phone,never got to met in person. And the woman always told me she was too busy to call back later. No one forced them to take my case if they didn't want it they didn't have to take it in the beginning now after 2 years of being with them and two weeks before my hearing and they dropped me, it may not be important to them but is very important to me this is my life they're messing with. Now I either have to find a lawyer at the last minute or go to my hearing by myself.

I heard about Downard &Associates when I called the SSN to inquire about filing a case. The lady there, actually recommended Downard &Associates and even gave me their number. Contacting Downard and associates was the best thing I could have done. They relieved me of a very stressful situation. They took care of all the paperwork .
I had faced bankruptcy due to not physically being able to work. I couldn't go to a doctor I had no insurance so I suffered and became more depressed. I had lost most of everything that I worked for in my life. After obtaining Downard and associates to help. My mortgage company was finally willing to work with me to keep my home which was the only thing I hadn't lost.

Would NOT recommend this firm at all. They did not do a very good job keeping me informed of anything. Right before my hearing, (Fifteen days before, to be exact) they dropped me as a client claiming they didn't feel I was disabled. I won my hearing without a lawyer.

When I started my disability claim, I was with another firm for over 2 years. Less than 1 month from the date of my SSDI hearing the attorney representing me decided he didn't want my case and handed to an associate in that firm. I went to meet that attorney and was devastated by his unprofessionalism, rudeness and inexperience with SSDI cases. I thought my 3 year fight was over and I was doomed. After I contacted several other law firms and being told either I didn't have a case or that they would not represent me because another firm had started the claim. I thought all was lost.
Until I contacted the Downard & Associates....After a tearful conversation the intake rep Bryan calmed me and said he thought Mr Downard could help. A few days Mr Downard himself called me and comforted me and told me not to worry, he would do all he could to help me. As it turned out the ALJ I was assigned was known for his high percentage of rejecting claims.
Not only did I win my SSDI claim, I received a Bench Decision with full benefits dating back to my disability date. God Bless you Mr Downard and your entire firm for all the hard work you did. I can not give you a large enough endorsement. You and your firm are the BEST.
If you are unfortunate enough to be in the position of having to file for SSDI or SSI, do yourself a favor and contact the Downard & Associates Firm, they will work for you.

I did not get the service they are getting paid for. Check other Attorneys and ask your social security case worker. I got in less than 4months and they done nothing for the money.

Mr. Downard won my case. It was a tough process but he stayed with it and in the end we won. I would recommend Mr. Downard to anyone who needs a good attorney for social security. I really need the insurance so I could get the medical treatment that I needed.

David Downard is an excellent attorney. He is one of the top social security disability attorneys in the Southeast. He worked for the social security administration for nearly 11 years and knows social security disability law inside and out. He helped me tremendously and I am lucky to have found him.

I would NOT use this firm under any circumstances!
After agreeing to take my case, I was strung along for almost two years...only to have them dump me mere months before my appeals hearing. To make it worse...they did not even tell me they were dropping the case, I had to learn about it from a copy of a letter sent to SS! When i contacted them and asked why, i was told that the lawyer handling my case did not feel it was a good case...directly contradicting their previous comments.
Luckily, I found a REAL attorney and won my case!!! Your disability is too important to put in these people's hands.

We were VERY dissatisfied with this office. I never once felt they cared about my case, or were working hard to win it. After a wait of 2 years we lost our case in the end. Over those 2 years of wait I got a total of maybe 30 minutes of time (that's being generous) with them on the phone/in person. Before having my time before a judge my 'lawyer' called me for a 3 minute conversation on the phone, and met me a whole 5 minutes before I was to go before the judge. Once we got our letter saying our case wasn't good enough, the lawyer didn't even bother calling to discuss it, they sent another form letter saying they would not appeal but we were welcome to come back to them and start all over again. Why would someone do that after the terrible way they were treated? No one would. I had heard Downard was great but in the end that simply wasn't true!

My name is Steve from Kentucky. When I was 23 years old I was diagnosed with a debilitating spine disease called Ankylosing Spondylitous. I was able to work for over 19 more years until I got to the point where my disease had progressed so much that I could no longer do my job or even perform many normal daily activities at home.
