Honestly, a bit of sticker shock initially. However, costs comparable with other firm working SSDI claim. Once past sticker shock, actual claim process was surprisingly pain-free. For my family and me, my illness and subsequent inability to continue working were hugely traumatic events. We didn’t know where to turn or how to handle the situation, so we ultimately decided we needed legal help. Harris Federal Law Firm helped me greatly throughout my complex, 27-month disability retirement process. Very much needed. I was dealing with moderate to severe chronic pain and resulting chronic sleep deprivation, chronic exhaustion, short term memory issues, etc. The first 18 months were "on my clock", time I needed to get comprehensive medical tests & evidence from about 20 different specialists in eight different medical fields. After I completed that, OPM took only 9 months to complete their process and approve my application. When enough time had passed, without OPM's decision, Harris Federal Law Firm's lead attorney took my application, among others, to the OPM Retirement Operations Center in Boyers, PA, to help facilitate OPM's process. To be fair, OPM had heavy workloads for their staff size (much influenced by Congress), so I think 9 months was very reasonable timeframe under their circumstances.
