This past Christmas Day (12-25-18) at 11:17 am, I was charged with Law Section P.421/A46.2-862 (92/70 Reckless driving over 80 mph - Traveling 92 mph in a 70 Zone - S/R). I have no previous speeding tickets in any states. Previous traffic violation: DUI 01/13/13. Finding out that traveling >80 mph in VA is a misdemeanor charge, I was floored and horrified. I switched to being the passenger for the rest of the drive and got on my laptop thoroughly searching through all lawyers in the Brunswick County, VA area specialized in excessive reckless driving speeds. I received a reckless driving ticket in Petersburg, VA. They got the ticket reduced to a non-moving violation. UNBELIEVABLE result! I will recommend that you 1) Get representation as soon as possible, court dates come quick and there are things they will recommend you do. 2) Do the things they say immediately! The course takes like 6 hours, then a mandatory 24 hour break, then another 6 hours. Give yourself a couple days to finish it! And then you have to wait for the certificate and send it on to them. So start it immediately! 3) The calibration is quick and easy. Do it quick as well so he has the real copy of the form, not a scan which some courts won't accept.
You will get a bunch of letters from attorneys once the ticket is posted on the jurisdictions website. Throw them all away and use this firm!

Leavitt and Martin are great. I have lived in Virginia for over 35 years and never new anything over 80 was considered Reckless Driving. I read about the the negative consequences of a RD conviction and realized I should probably get a lawyer. In Jan 2018, I was driving from NC and got summons (yellow in color, says VIRGINIA UNIFORM SUMMONS, Law Section § 46.2-862. Exceeding speed limit.) on I-95, Sussex County, Virginia for driving 82 in 70 mile zone. It was dark night and got flagged. Officer said that I crossed a truck that was making 82 miles an hour.

Without reading and seriousness, I signed and took the summons and put it in the glove compartment. However, during the weekend I had time to read and visited the Sussex court website and learned the consequences of getting a ticket in the State of VA. I kind of got worried, panicked, disturbed and started writing emails to various attorney's in Sussex County. I want to say Daniel Leavitt was the only attorney who responded to my emails and phone calls on the weekend. I did not hear from any attorney or firm except two weeks prior to the court date.

I spoke to Dan and he was crystal clear about the ticket and consequences of not responding or attending the court. Dan said that I could fight myself in the court and I need not hire him. He gave all answers to my questions and never rushed to hang up the phone. He also responded to my emails without much delay. Again, this was on the weekend.

My wife had an "incident" while in Virginia. I realized I needed a lawyer and saw all the positive reviews on Leavitt and Martin. I figured I would at least contact them and see how long they would take to get back to me. Like every review stated, Dan gets back to you very quickly, answers questions and even answers his phone.

The firms price is reasonable, but not cheap. I received many mailings from lawyers who stated they would take care of the incident for about $150. Even though the low price offered in these mailings was tempting, I would not trust a lawyer who claims to work so far below the going rate of an attorney.

Well I was traveling through dinwiddie county from North Carolina for a baby shower in VA. I was rolling with the flow of traffic and BAM blue lights. The officer hands me the ticket and I continue on my journey. It wasn’t until I got back to NC and really read the citation and much to my dismay realized that it was for reckless driving. It's not fun getting a ticket in Virginia - and never over 20mph (although I wasn't over the speed limit that much, I didn't know that reckless driving is a felony in VA!) By next day, you'll have about a dozen unsolicited requests for representation. Every lawyer living/breathing in that County will ask for your business - citing their ticket-clearing record.

I didn't receive any such solicitation from L&M, PLLC. In fact, I reached out to my attorney for recommendations. He searched Lexis/Nexis and other legal sites and provided me with L&M, PLLC information/recommendation. I called and spoke directly with the Principal, who was courteous and didn't make a "sales pitch". I exchanged emails, asked for an engagement letter - which I subsequently signed after having my attorney review it. Throughout the process, they kept me informed, guided me to the right driving school, and submission of my Driver's Improvement Program (DIP) class. Suffice it to say, following their advice, I was able to have my case dismissed and record expunged. VA DIP class is really informative, and though it may sound onerous, it's absolutely worth taking (not to mention required when the Judge so stipulates). Even if you haven't received a ticket, it's an excellent class that re-calibrates your driving habits and adds a sense of safety/security we all tend to take for granted over the years.

I was driving 84 in a 70 zone and was pulled over for Reckless so I did a little research on who might provide the best representation and it turned out to be Leavitt & Martin PLLC. The process was easy, I followed the the direction they provided and it all worked out. My Reckless was dismissed and I did not even have to be there in court. These guys are very good at creating the proper expectation and provide great representation so I highly recommend them.

I called to sue a court system. The representative on the phone, misunderstood what I was trying to communicate. I said, "You're not understanding what I'm trying to convey." Then he says, "I appreciated the call. I don't have time for this." So, I guess you don't have time to make money. The representative was extremely arrogant and lacks communication skills. Virginia is NOT for lovers, but is the road to CLASS-1 Misdemeanor for speeding at/over 80mph; this can leave a permanent scar of a criminal record with a lot of undesirable consequences if not tackled with the right legal help. I was in a daze when charged with a ticket for driving at 87mph in a 70mph zone near Dinwiddie; was always under the impression that you had to drive 25mph over the posted limit to be considered reckless, but realized the seriousness of my stupidity in VA in a couple of hours, looking up the issue/fine details on the web. I hired the services of Daniel 2 days after I got my ticket 84 on a 70(clean driving record), he had a flat rate and I did not have to show up for court (I was referred to him through another lawyer I found online). He got me with a defective equipment $100 and court fee $71 which I found to be pretty good as he said it could have been $150 max for defective equipment.
Another thing, is that Dan said it would help the fact I was a veteran, so for anyone with a ticket, keep that in mind.
Bottom line, when I hired Dan it took off a lot of stress off my shoulders as he told me he would take care of everything, and he kept it personal as I always communicated with him and not a secretary; he also said that even if the case would drag or extends for whatever reason it was already included in the flat rate, which is a plus.

I had a RD charge for going 83/70 in Dinwiddie County. I did not realize the severity of the charge and went to court and plead guilty hoping for a reduced sentence. I got convicted and panicked. I am in graduate school for education and having to click "yes" on the criminal conviction was NOT something I was trying to put on a job application... simply because I drove 13 miles over the speed limit.
