You will get a bunch of letters from attorneys once the ticket is posted on the jurisdictions website. Throw them all away and use this firm!
Long story short, Daniel was quick and professional. Followed up quickly and responded to all my necessary questions. It was a pleasure working with him and I got my ticket reduced to simple speeding. While the entire process felt overwhelming as I was worried, I put my trust in Daniel and his firm and all went well. I highly reccomend!
In reading the reviews for Leavitt and Martin and seeing the information on their website they just seemed much more personable. I found out after I contacted them that they are in fact very personable and very good at what they do. Even though this was my first time dealing with a lawyer they made me feel confident and put my mind at ease about what they could do for my case.
Their professionalism, knowledge of the courts, promptness, accessibility, attentiveness, and explanation of the realistic results I can expect won me over right away. I was charged with 82/70 RD and they were able to get it reduced to a non moving violation. I am very happy with the result and with their representation.
I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs this type of representation.
Without reading and seriousness, I signed and took the summons and put it in the glove compartment. However, during the weekend I had time to read and visited the Sussex court website and learned the consequences of getting a ticket in the State of VA. I kind of got worried, panicked, disturbed and started writing emails to various attorney's in Sussex County. I want to say Daniel Leavitt was the only attorney who responded to my emails and phone calls on the weekend. I did not hear from any attorney or firm except two weeks prior to the court date.
I spoke to Dan and he was crystal clear about the ticket and consequences of not responding or attending the court. Dan said that I could fight myself in the court and I need not hire him. He gave all answers to my questions and never rushed to hang up the phone. He also responded to my emails without much delay. Again, this was on the weekend.
The fee was high but I had no doubt about his ability and firm expertise. Also, I would not have gone to the court because I am 280 miles away from Sussex, VA. I had an option to wait and work with other firms. The magic thing for me was, Daniel Leavitt was responsive and helpful. I rather work with people who are helpful and prompt. I have paid the fee, submitted the documents including summons, driving license, driving record from my state for the last five years.
One day prior to court date, made a phone call to the firm and talked to Corey Martin. He said that I am all set and need not attend the court.
The court time was 11:00 AM, then I get a email at 12:30 PM for Leavitt and Martin that my ticket was reduced from misdemeanor reckless driving charge to a non-moving violation called Defective Speedometer. I was relieved after seeing that email.
I had a great experience working and talking to these two gentlemen. They are committed, responsive, responsible, accessible and courteous. I am sure, you are reading this review because you got a ticket in Sussex, VA and may be from out of state. I say, call Leavittt & Martin!
I am extremely satisfied with his representation. This was an extremely stressful situation but he made me feel hopeful and more at ease. And you can’t put a price on that. The court’s decision was better than I could have hoped and exactly what Mr. Leavitt told me would likely happen. I am forever indebted to him.
November, 2019, I was charged with Reckless Driving doing 85 on a 70mph in VA.
I emailed Mr. Leavitt that same night when I became aware of the serious charge a Reckless Driving is in the state of Virginia. He was very polite, and helpful . I also spoke with 4 other lawyers, but Mr. Daniel Leavitt was the one I decided to go with. Yes, he was the one who charged me the most, when compared to a TON of letters of lawyers I received at home, BUT it gave me tranquility knowing my case would be well attended. You get what you pay for, right?!
My court just happened this last week of January. Mr. Leavitt was able to bring the charge down to a non moving violation, no points on my license, no class to be taken. I just paid the ticket + court costs. I also didnt go to court as he was there to represent me.
I hope I never have a need to use his services anymore, but I would recommend him to EVERYONE out there. He is truly an amazing lawyer.
I did not even have to return to Virginia. The firm was able to go to court for me and got the charges reduced to a much lesser charge.
The firms price is reasonable, but not cheap. I received many mailings from lawyers who stated they would take care of the incident for about $150. Even though the low price offered in these mailings was tempting, I would not trust a lawyer who claims to work so far below the going rate of an attorney.
On the evening of my wife's court date, Dan emailed me to tell me that everything went as he said it would and my wife's issue was resolved.
THANK YOU DAN!
He is successful at what he does and was confident he could get my violation reduced. He did more than that, he got the charges 100% dismissed with zero fines or court costs. I'm telling you, I couldn't have done this on my own as Dan instructed me on all the steps I needed to take for the best result and to show that I am taking this very seriously. Even when I expressed my doubts that some of these things had to be done, I trusted him 100% and I am glad I did.
Not only did he answer every panicked email and question, he was very reassuring that we were doing everything we needed to succeed. I emailed so often (and he responded to each inquiry) I went from addressing him as "Mr. Leavitt" to "Dan" in our correspondence-he felt like a friend. I hope to never have to retain his services in the future, but I would recommend him to anyone who needs a skilled attorney
I was solicited by dozens of mailers from law firms as soon as my case got posted, but I am glad I did my research and found Leavitt & Martin (without solicitation) and I just know this result wouldn't have been possible without them.
I am forever grateful. Thanks, Dan!
Mr. Leavitt successfully modified the charge to a non moving violation. I was very happy and relieved with the outcome. I would recommend him to anyone looking for efficient, quality legal representation.
I didn't receive any such solicitation from L&M, PLLC. In fact, I reached out to my attorney for recommendations. He searched Lexis/Nexis and other legal sites and provided me with L&M, PLLC information/recommendation. I called and spoke directly with the Principal, who was courteous and didn't make a "sales pitch". I exchanged emails, asked for an engagement letter - which I subsequently signed after having my attorney review it. Throughout the process, they kept me informed, guided me to the right driving school, and submission of my Driver's Improvement Program (DIP) class. Suffice it to say, following their advice, I was able to have my case dismissed and record expunged. VA DIP class is really informative, and though it may sound onerous, it's absolutely worth taking (not to mention required when the Judge so stipulates). Even if you haven't received a ticket, it's an excellent class that re-calibrates your driving habits and adds a sense of safety/security we all tend to take for granted over the years.
Virginia is NOT for lovers, but is the road to CLASS-1 Misdemeanor for speeding at/over 80mph; this can leave a permanent scar of a criminal record with a lot of undesirable consequences if not tackled with the right legal help. I was in a daze when charged with a ticket for driving at 87mph in a 70mph zone near Dinwiddie; was always under the impression that you had to drive 25mph over the posted limit to be considered reckless, but realized the seriousness of my stupidity in VA in a couple of hours, looking up the issue/fine details on the web. I looked up numerous legal options but through some gut feeling decided to engage the services of Mr. Leavitt and I am definitely glad that I did. Mr. Leavitt spoke to me/responded promptly to each of my emails/concerns himself and helped get the charges dismissed. I would say to anyone.."Leave it to Mr. Leavitt" to take care of any of your reckless driving charges, but better still, do not be caught in VA, driving anywhere at 80mph or over.
Another thing, is that Dan said it would help the fact I was a veteran, so for anyone with a ticket, keep that in mind.
Bottom line, when I hired Dan it took off a lot of stress off my shoulders as he told me he would take care of everything, and he kept it personal as I always communicated with him and not a secretary; he also said that even if the case would drag or extends for whatever reason it was already included in the flat rate, which is a plus.
I called another lawyer in VA who recommended me to Dan Leavitt, so I gave him a call. I emailed Dan my driving record after getting it from the state DMV and a copy of my ticket; he answered a couple questions that I had and said he had everything that he needed for the hearing and would email me afterward (the hearing was taking place about a month later.)
Dan represented me at a flat rate and I didn't have to even attend the court date. He boasted a 100% success rate with cases like mine, and he got my fine reduced to a non-moving violation and a $200 fine. He said he could not promise to win every case, but if I was polite to the officer, had a clean driving record, and wasn't going more than 20 miles over the speed limit then odds were good. He seemed to have a good relationship with both traffic cops and the local judges.
All in all, I received no points on my license, no misdemeanor on my record, and didn't have to drive all night to get to VA at 10am. I would recommend Dan to any out-of-stater who finds themselves being charged as a "reckless" driver in Virginia.
Highly recommended
Dan was extremely helpful and incredibly patient with my many questions. He was very responsive, even before I had agreed to hire him. He got my case dismissed and I didn't have to appear in court.
I'm so glad I hired him, it couldn't have ended any better. I would highly recommend him.
He was always accessible, returned his calls and never rushed me off the phone; I felt that my concerns became his concerns.
(I once wrote a check for $10,000 to another attorney for another mater entirely, just to tie up loose ends, and if that guy had had a fraction of the smarts, scruples and humanity as Mr. Leavitt, it would have been money well spent, not money simply wasted. I may as well have burned it.)
I would recommend Mr. Leavitt to anyone I know.
He handled my case, kept me informed of the various stages and their results, represented me in court and achieved an outcome that was acceptable to me.
As I am in a service oriented profession myself, I highly recommend Mr. Leavitt for his superior legal representation in Southside Virginia.
Mr. Leavitt was proactive and responsive from day one. He a did an excellent job of explaining the serious nature of the charges to our son and made a definite impression on him. Mr. Leavitt is very familiar with the judges in the area and gave us good advice on how to be proactive before the court date to achieve the best results.
We had a complication with VASAP that was no fault of ours or our attorney's and at no extra cost, Mr. Leavitt handled the situation by writing several emails and letters, as well as getting our judge involved. In the end, our son's charges were reduced from reckless driving to a simple speeding ticket. He does not have any record and I would very highly recommend Daniel Leavitt. He is an excellent attorney, has very good communication skills, and is extremely knowledgeable.
He is professional, thorough and dedicated - the outcome was as good as one can hope for.
I would highly recommend Mr. Leavitt!
I hired a lawyer in Dinwiddie (NOT Daniel Leavitt) for a very low price to handle my appeal. However, I could not get in contact with him after paying him even to get a receipt for my payment. I called him one day after several emails and about a week of leaving messages and politely but ademately asked his secretary that I get a receipt so that knew what i paid for. Long story she was very rude and hung up the phone on me, even though I kept my tone polite but firm the whole time. I emailed that attorney that I was seeking other counsel and ended up getting a refund.
Now about a week before my appeal I had to find a new attorney. Mr. Leavitt personally answered my call and offered me a reasonable price, and felt trustworthy, so I hired him. He seemed to me to have very seasoned experienced in particular with dealing with Dinwiddie County and how the prosecutors and judges operate and that was very comforting. Not only did he get my charge reduced to just a 9 above speeding ticket. But he was 100% accessible to me. He answered the phone almost every time I called or called me back. I was very anxious about this situation and contacted him quite a few times. He was prompt and thorough in response to emails, and I felt the entire time like he valued my case and never like it was just some minor thing on a stack on his desk (which I felt with my other lawyer)
This issue caused a lot of lost sleep for me and in my opinion, hiring Mr. Leavitt was just a great investment. He seems genuinely passionate about his practice, and I would recommend him to anyone to handle a traffic violation.
