Beware! Vera will tell you everything you want to hear and before you know it nothing will be done on your case. All she cares about is getting paid and draining out your retainer and ask for more money. She will have you sign a withdrawal agreement to keep in your file or she will not take your case and will date it herself when you ask her about the ridiculous charges to withdraw herself from the case. Very unethical. She is on vacation most of the time and will not be prepared for your case and will demand more money so you can have a meeting with her before the hearing to refresh her memory. Her staff are all family members and they will not do anything on your case and make excuses after excuses and send bill after bill. It's horrible! Do your research please and read reviews however most of these reviews are staff and family members giving excellent reviews.

Vera Bergermann was the perfect fit for my family's needs! She was thorough, confident, compassionate, and personable. The entire Bergermann Law Firm staff was helpful in guiding me through the daunting process of my dissolution of marriage case. I had a complicated case. She was able to facilitate an agreement outside of court in a Mediation setting. It was a grueling mediation, but Vera was calm, cool, and collected throughout, which gave me the confidence to stay the course and get it done. I am so grateful for Vera and her team! I wouldn't have wanted to go through such an emotionally draining and exquisitely detailed legal process without her! Super sharp, professional & personable... I HIGHLY recommend!!!

I wish I would have seen some of these reviews prior to hiring this firm. As others have stated, this isn't a review to be spiteful, but to warn. She failed to provide legal guidance on a critical aspect of our case - as a result, she compromised a case that's been in court for over 6 years. Her actions, or lack there of, were beyond reckless. Told us everything we wanted to hear on the first call, took the down payment, and then became annoyed when we began to ask questions. If your case has any level of complexity, there are much better options in the Ft. Myers/Naples area.

I have had the best experience with this law firm!... She tells you every thing you want to hear takes your money then says you have no chance of winning... she never returns calls, emails and shows absolutely no care in the world for the children involved. Additionally she dropped my husbands case with his ex wife simply because her "friend" doesn't like me.... she's a gossip and takes 0 responsibility for anything and can't believe dropping a client over gossip was even an option after paying her 5k for nothing. We stated were reporting her and she sent a very twisted black male letter. Buyer beware. Do your homework, many other attorneys are having to Pick up her slack. We found 4 other people with the same story, she is most likely on opposing counsels side feeding them your information.... run far away from this firm! Always available for additional questions. Court Resolution was resolved as soon as we found another attorney.

Vera told me not to say anything bad about my future ex husband or he would get custody. So I didn't, which made my case a losing case from the beginning. She's a cookie cutter attorney. When I called her and told her that my ex husband was telling my 4 year old hateful things about me, this is what she told me, "I'm sure you say bad things about your husband in front of your son too." I should have fired her on the spot. Then I found out she was working with my ex's attorney behind my back. You see, my ex was institutionalized and never told me before he married me. He's a sociopath and neither the courts or the attorneys had sense to get his medical records. He had nothing, I lost everything, but the worst part is having a child involved. It would take me 3 days to get my son back to the loving child he was, every time he came from his fathers. Vera could care less about you or your kids. Just like most attorneys. All they want is money no matter the results. If your dealing with a narcissist/sociopath/bipolar/borderline or personality disordered individual, look at OneMomsBattle online. Whether your male or female, this was how I figured out what I was dealing with. I could put my son through college with the money I have spent on attorneys.

I chose to utilize Ms.Bergermann's law firm for my child custody and child support case. My review is not to be spiteful but to inform the next potential client to strongly reconsider hiring a different attorney. Ms. Bergermann's law firm lacks professionalism on so many levels. It is not easy dealing with any situation that is affecting some ones personal life as it is, and to have an attorney that does not value you as a customer makes it even worse. Every time I had a question or I needed more information, I would always get "Vera will call you back" or one of her employees being extremely rude, and act as if my call was a burden and become frustrated with having to communicate information with me. On several occasions I was hung up on. They made such comments as "you are calling too much". Unfortunately because I do live on the other coast telephone communication was the only method for me to truly understand step by step what was going on with my case. I was always left in the dark. I would not receive calls back, they chose to email their responses. Vera also took extremely long on booking my court hearing. I paid for those services back in December it was not until late March the following year that I finally received my final court hearing. Not only that, but 2 day prior to my court hearing, I received a call from one for her employees almost threatening me, that If i do not pay 2 hours of her to represent me upfront which was $600, Ms.Bergermann was going to withdraw from my case and will not appear in court. Let me emphasize that this was 2 days prior to my hearing, they had from December to March to inform me of these charges. I was also informed that any money not used was going to be refunded. She represented me for less than one hour and still kept what was remaining. Ms. Bergermann was not prepared for my case. Did very little talking, and I felt as if she could have tried a little harder to fight for me as her client. The final judgment did not go in my favor and it was truly not necessary to even have Vera Bergermann there. She did not say anything that would persuade a judge to rule in my favor. This law firm and employees have poor customer service. It is unprofessional and unresponsive. I attempted many times to look past the way I was being treated by the staff in fear that this attorney would withdraw at any moment. I too work in this industry and I could understand that on busy days sometimes people do not have the time to do the little things like apologize, say please and thank you and sometimes things get lost in translation so I tried to give them the benefit of doubt. But her staff has serious attitudes that need to be addressed, especially in a situation where the business is representing you. Overall I would not recommend Vera Bergermann's, the overall experience has been awful. To Ms. Vera Bergermann's with all do respect, your administrative staff (Kim, Chris, Desiree) definitely need a refresher course on the importance of customer service. Great attitudes keep companies thriving, and if they are going to be representing your law firm then doing it with a polite and positive attitude should be part of the job description. Ms. Bergermann did a great job for me with some family law work I needed done. She has a lot of experience with divorce, prenuptials, and parenting rights and it showed.
These issues are by nature thorny but she made them much easier and simpler and the outcome was perfect. I would recommend her to my friends and do.

Vera rescued my children from an abusive mother, getting me full custody. Her knowledge of and experience with the court system was invaluable--she knows the ins and outs and how to make things happen in her clients' favor. Most importantly, her greatest concern throughout the entire matter was what was in the best interests of the kids. Not only is Vera the best Family Law attorney in southwest FL, she truly cares about her clients and works hard to do what is best for them. I checked, there are a lot of lawyers in the area who charge more but don't work as hard or win as many cases as Vera.
