First, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. This experience is usually life changing in a bad way but for me this has been a stepping stone in a more positive direction. You being here for me through this has pushed me to understand the value and importance of my own life. These past months have been really challenging but I’ve gained a sense of newfound strength. I fully understand and now accept responsibility for myself. I shouldn’t have gave up and I shouldn’t have been in a position to want to give up. I was raised to always be a hard worker and push towards perfection, unfortunately perfection will never be in my name. This was a battle with myself as a growing man into a world that is filled with chaos and pain. I’m here for a reason and you were there that night when I looked my worst and held no judgement. I respect you and value you not only as a lawyer (Which was my dream as a kid) but as human being. I was really afraid of using a public defender stating this was my first time, will defiantly be the last time, but you have proved yourself to be above par. The gratitude I exert for you not only defending me and others, is a staple in the progress we still have to puncture in this world. It takes people like you and me to understand the pain and work together to find a solution. I believe in the power to view an open mind, the ability to observe all angles, and showcase true compassion. Those are the qualities that will change the justice system and give peace to the ones who “made a mistake”. I have spent the past few weeks pondering what to express to you, I have some words but not enough to express to you how much I respect you.
