Got assigned this guy as a public defender in my felony case. He refused to take material evidence in my case on multiple occasions. He directly insulted me at every corner instead of listening to me. He refused to do his job. He showed up at court late every time sweating with floral shirts with the top button unbuttoned looking entirely unprofessional. I was literally sitting in court on one hearing in jail oranges and chained to real criminals, and he showed up to the hearing late (my friend was there to support me and watched all this), running around not knowing what he's doing in front of everyone, completely unprepared. I had to twice tell him how criminal law worked, because he didn't know. He even tried to quit my case at one point and then found out he actually couldn't. Like seriously, dude...you can't even do your job right, much less quit it right?

Remember this email on April 5, 2019, Mr. Ezzo: "If you want to handle this case by yourself let me know and I’ll withdraw. Otherwise I will be the one making the legal decisions and filing pleadings."
Then on April 10, 2019, you sent me half a law to try and coerce me into signing a plea when I know for a fact I'm innocent and made it very clear I would never sign. I had to correct you about the law you thought you were bamboozling about like I'm retarded and can't read the law in the books myself, even without your highly unethical deception.

Hell, when I met this guy, he's telling me that it's unethical for him to listen to me talk about my case when LITERALLY EVERYONE TELLS YOU YOUR ATTORNEY IS THE ONLY PERSON YOU CAN TALK TO. How does Mr. Ezzo not have basic common sense at such an advanced age??

Needless to say I fired Mr. Ezzo today, having been completely unimpressed at his unprofessional appearance, lack of legal knowledge (seriously, I shouldn't have to tell you that my phone records are material evidence in a case regarding my phone), and complete ineptitude as a lawyer.

He's late, he doesn't have any experience, and he just has a really bad attitude. I have tons of emails I printed to show the judge how he tried belittling me and bullying me and coercing me into signing a plea deal and I refused. He threatened and intimidated me to sign. I refused because I know for 100% fact I'm innocent. I sent him over 1000 messages that were vitally important to my case, and he refused to enter them into the court. He thinks my criminal case against me is about him. This is my case, Mr. Ezzo, and now you've been granted your wish of being removed from this case for not knowing how to do your job. You're so bad at your job I'm not even afraid of you suing me for this 100% factually correct review of my time as your client in a case because we both know you wouldn't do it right. You're hands-down the worst, most unethical, least professional attorney in all of Arizona.

He's such a bad lawyer. I thank god I didn't pay for this terrible waste of time. The state did in this case. If you actually hired him, good luck. I'm sure he changed his name by now to cover up the egregious mistakes he made in cases like mine where I ended up having to petition the court for a new lawyer on the grounds that Mr. Ezzo is incompetent, refused to submit material evidence, and tried to quit already but was too inept as a lawyer to even do that right.

This guy is in his 60s but don't be fooled - he has a UofA email still because he's just an archaeologist turned law student. He has a LOT to learn before they let him try real cases. If this man is assigned as your public defender, take my word and fire this law student posing as a lawyer like I did before he wastes over 4 months of your time. He's lazy and unorganized, not qualities I look for in a lawyer.
