The staff of San Diego Elder Law Center was extremely helpful, informative, professional and caring through the daunting task of qualifying my mother for Medi-Cal after the devastating diagnosis of dementia. They were a life saver for my family and I can't imagine trying to navigate the system without their help and guidance. I am so grateful and feel secure in knowing they are there for me going forward. Diana Barnes
We had a VERY difficult case with my mother-in-law. I won't get into details, but it's been a long court battle for over two years. We were referred to Phil by our former attorney. He was highly recommended and we can see why. I was able to witness his expertise in court while there on another case and was blown away by his prowess. I work as a legal professional, but in a different area of law, so this was all foreign to me. More importantly, Phil was actually able to make my husband understand and feel completely at ease, which is not an easy task. Phil's team is highly efficient, organized, knowledgeable, and patient. Every time we have been there, his staff has been friendly and accommodating. When Carly was assigned to our case, she was able to catch right up and get going on the most pressing matters. Carly has been there for every phone call, email, in office meeting, and question after question. She is patient, kind, and up to speed on our needs. We've never felt like we were set aside or an annoyance, even when we have called for questions that were already answered. I love that Carly has specifically requested that we call her before doing anything. Our case is finally calming down, and we couldn't be happier. Mom is thriving, and we finally feel like we can relax. I highly recommend this office, and if you need a great advocate for your loved one, Carly is your gal! Thank you Phil, Carly, and San Diego Elder Law Center.

I couldn't be happier to be using these guys for both drawing up trusts and executing them.
The trust my dad was about to sign was drawn up by a quack lawyer ... if I had to execute it, it would have been very hard. A big firm recommended that we start over, but this time using San Diego Elder Law instead. GREAT MOVE ... they gave excellent attention to detail, and created documents I know will be useful when we finally need them. Thank you, SDELC!!
And more immediately, SDELC (especially Carly Surber Maganuco) was ENORMOUSLY helpful in closing my aunt's estate. I am executor/trustee, but without any education in either ... and the death of a relative is not a good time to find out. From the first day, Carly did an amazing job of leading me through discovery and organizing the situation, and then guided me through the process for both probate and trust. Formally, her job was to keep me safe while executing my duties. Practically, it meant performing the complicated probate work, managing the accountants while they did (even more) complicated work, and setting up dates and relationships in the proper order to avoid re-do and unnecessary friction. I have come to rely completely on her steady advice and good humor. Thank goodness, too, for the excellent SDELC firm that backs her up.
I'm very, very glad SDELC is available to help draw up documents and then lead me to the end. They do a great service to families who need to get to the end of California's and US's crazy thicket of detailed regulations at the worst of times.
BEWARE: There are quacks and slimy nut jobs that claim to be trust/estate lawyers. SDELC is the real deal, and their charges are fair given the value they deliver. This is one area where it pays to be picky!

Everyone has been awesome – responses to questions have always been very quick & helpful. We appreciate all the work that the staff has done to help my brother. Especially Liz, who made our application for Medi-Cal seem easy! Thanks to all.

SDELC assisted my estate administration in opening a California (ancillary) probate. Since I lived in Chicago, I was concerned about having to go to San Diego often but that wasn’t the case. The work could be done successfully by e-mail & phone, a cost savings to the estate. Thank you & it was a pleasure & sometimes even fun to do business with Daphne & Robert.

“Everyone on the staff was excellent. Daphne and Heather were the ones spoken to most often. They were both fantastic and made us feel like family.
