Very disappointed in Andrew Carter. He agreed to represent me in a custody battle over my son. After giving him several thousand dollars, (He insisted on cash only payments. Weird. What is he trying to hide?) he completely ignored me. For months I have tried to make contact with him and his office employees. I have been flat out ignored. I mean, I've never seen anything like this. Him and his assistant literally took my money and ran. I have sent numerous emails, made phone calls, left messages, you name it. He has just blatantly ignored my every attempt to make contact and did zero for my case. I mean, zero. It almost sounds unbelievable. This attorney took my money and gave me absolutely nothing in return. After trying to make contact with him for several months, I finally got a notice that he was withdrawing from my case. I was sent a magically fabricated invoice totaling just around the amount I had paid them. Itemized with bogus charges and things they "did" for me. Disgusting. This guy should be in jail. I've since contacted another attorney. He's given me great advice, not only on my case, but also how to file a grievance with the state bar of Texas on Andrew Carter. He also advised me to contact the IRS regarding Mr. Carter's cash only payment requirements to request he be audited.

James Carter was involved in our case, and we were very disappointed in his performance, his lack of professionalism, and his laziness. He continuously broke promises he made to our children, he showed up hours late to appointments (or not at all), and he completely disregarded our children's therapist's advice. The only time he really bothered to pay attention to us was when it was time to collect his fee. There is no way that I would recommend him to anyone.

Compassionate, Caring and Smart

We cannot say enough good things about Mr. Carter. He handled an adoption for us and the children loved him. Actually, he was appointed by the 321st District Court to represent our children. He met with them and really listened to what they had to say. My daughter still tells people she has her own attorney:) Anyway, Mr. Carter was prompt, caring and thorough. He is also very smart. He pointed some things out to us we had not thought about. He came out to our house and then brought a gift to the children on adoption day. JAMES CARTER could not have made that day any more special. Thank you Mr. Carter for caring so much for our children!

James was hired as our amicus attorney for our case. He ignored evidence of abuse because the other party was a good christian. He claimed that that person's relationship was sacred and he would behave better from how on. Thus, we now are back where we started except 3000$ poorer. Also, he forbade us from updating the children on what was happening in the case saying it was his responsibility to do so. He then promptly ignored the kids and told them nothing. On multiple occasions he did not actually perform the job he was hired to do. But we still got the bill and had to pay it before orders were released.

I hired Mr. Carter to remove a child that was not my son’s child from his child support responsibility and to have money that was paid directly to my son’s ex-wife removed from the arrears on his child support (we had the signed Affidavits of Direct Payment). Mr. Carter appears to have a good working relationship with the AG’s Office and he and his assistant, Sarah Harris, did an excellent job with resolving the issues. I would highly recommend him to anyone who has issues in Family Court in Smith County.

An excellent family lawyer. If you're looking for an educated lawyer with good moral character and well versed in family law, James Carter is the attorney I would recommend. He helped me through a difficult divorce and fought for the things that were important to me.
