Being a first time home buyer can be super intimidating, especially when you are a young female trying to go through the process on your own. You depend greatly on help and advice from mortgage brokers, realtors, friends, etc. and hope and pray that you will deal with good honest people during the process. When I was buying my first home, unfortunately this was not the case. While I dealt with many wonderful dependable people who were helpful to me when I needed them, the seller and selling agent of the home that I was buying saw me as nothing more than an easy target, someone they could take advantage of and sell quickly to while cutting corners and not being open about the issues that were at hand. Two days after closing on my house I was left with a broken air conditioner, unlivable conditions, a four thousand dollar quote for a replacement unit, and a completely shattered heart. I felt absolutely devastated and helpless and couldn’t wrap my mind around how anyone could cover the truth, lie to my face as well as on paper, and take advantage of me while I was taking one of the biggest steps in my life. I had already depleted my bank account purchasing the home, and had no idea where I was going to get an extra four thousand dollars to replace my unit. Not knowing what to do or where to turn for help, I called Lesemann and Associates and spoke to Taylor Powell to see what my options were and to see if there was anything in this situation that could be done.
