As you can imagine meeting and working with a family attorney isn’t always under the most calm and optimal of circumstances. I met and interviewed with 5 of the top attorneys in Nashville. Kristin made one of the most difficult times in my life manageable. Her professionalism, counsel, patience, and overall approach to the entire process was extraordinary. I felt completely at ease and know that I absolutely made the right decision to work with her.

Divorce was new to me. As a father seeking custody of his three young girls, I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know where to turn. All I knew is that I had children that were at risk and I needed help.
Fortunately, I was given Joshua’s name by someone I trusted deeply, and from the very first phone call it was clear I’d be in good hands with Joshua.
His attentiveness, and attention to detail always made me feel like I was his only client. If I had a question or needed to talk and reached out, he was ALWAYS there for me. On average, his response time could be measured not in days or even hours but in MINUTES. Which is exactly what you want and need during such trying times. Quick, Clear, and Concise feedback. Always.
At each step of the way, Joshua did an exceptional job of laying out each option available, and how each one could impact me as the father to my 3 young girls.
His experience gave him the ability to keep me from being surprised along the way. He was great at managing my expectations throughout the process. An absolute necessity for anyone hoping to come out the other side in one piece.
Given the stakes at hand, and long-term implications, I needed the best and I am 100% certain I had that in Joshua. I am forever grateful for the wonderful support and counsel I received from Joshua and all that he was able to do for me and my girls. He is the best. Period.
Joshua represented me in my divorce and in the years since then as my ex-husband and I have co-parented our children. He was always prepared, professional and thorough. When I walk into his office he has briefed himself on my history and background and is ready for any question I might bring. He is a good listener and a thoughtful, caring person. In addition he's expert in his field, especially with the international aspect of my divorce. I give him my highest recommendation.

I hired Ms. Amonette for a child support case. I explained my financial situation and the max I could devote to resolving the issue. Like the other reviewer, in my initial encounter I was impressed with her professionalism and enthusiasm for my case.
Unfortunately, my first impression was NOT consistent with the remainder of my experience.
She was NOT timely in advancing the case. Her delay in filing an initial action cost me over nine months of back child support. I had to prompt her with e-mails (with SECOND / THIRD REQUEST in the subject lines) documenting what she had promised to do by when. At one point I was so exasperated that I reached out to the attorney who recommended her to ask if she might be ill. Sadly, my reminders of missed deadlines did not move her to action, perhaps due to her apparent lack of interest in my issue.
At one point in the case she arrived for a hearing and left because my ex-did not show up promptly at the scheduled start time. (He was 15 minutes late.) Because she did not wait 15 minutes, I experienced yet another 30+ days delay and lost even more potential child support income.
Months into the ordeal, she did a very nice job deposing my ex, but ultimately recommended I accept a settlement that did not allow me to "break even" after paying her fees.
In my experience, her biggest concern is getting paid for every minute of time she works. She charged me over $1,000 and took over six weeks to "research" the issue before ever taking action on my behalf. This should have been a HUGE red flag.
She was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT.

My first engagement with Kristin Amonette was exceptional. She took the reins of a very complex case and restored sanity and order to the process. I found her to be prepared as well as aggressive when she needed to be but advised me on multiple strategies to consider. However, my disappointment with her and the firm in general and why this is a 3 star review and not a 5 star is because she and the firm do not mange their clients well. It would sometimes take WEEKS to get calls back or follow through on important issues. I would frequently leave 5+ messages before getting a return call. I often felt like the firm would forget I was even a client, often having to retell the same information multiple times to get back up to speed, rather than the firm just being too busy to be responsive. I realize that attorneys take on more clients than they can handle in order to stay busy and make more money, but servicing your clients during very delicate negotiations where time is of the essence are table stakes for the amount of money being spent on this service.
