Unexpected divorce is a tough thing to find yourself going through. Rosen Law Firm was excellent in guiding me through the process and Lisa Angel's experience and command of the law helped me arrive at a reasonable settlement.

I've been happily divorced for over a year and wanted to give my thanks to Mr. Gantt. Divorce is always horrible, and my situation was no exception! My ex is a high-conflict, illogical, and histrionic individual, and Mr. Gantt helped me navigate thru the nightmare process of divorce. He was also very straight-forward about what was included in each step - including the duties to be performed, cost, timeline, etc. The final outcome of my divorce was the best outcome the state of NC could allow me. And then had no compassion for my daughter who hears that false accusation, and thinks her dad is a monster now.Her advice was to have a letter sent to my wife telling her to stop. I hired Rosen's Richard Gantt to help me get through a contentious divorce after having let someone else go; I never looked back. Richard is sharp, crystal-clear on the law and will not hesitate to put up the good fight for what is right and equitable. Divorce is never easy, but Richard had the sensibility to put things into perspective for me and I never felt he was gouging me for fees. My divorce was the first time I needed this level of counsel, but I felt at ease because Richard was surgically aggressive, strategic and detailed-oriented in protecting my interests during the separation and final divorce. For example, when my ex- decided to back-off the separation agreement, Richard spent hours on the phone with the opposing counsel "helping them understand" the binding nature of the contract and the potential legal ramifications of a breach. At the end of this ugly ordeal, I felt my separation was even-keeled and just. But importantly, I also felt I had gained a friend I could trust.

Divorce is one of the hardest challenges in life. It’s and emotional process and upends ones whole world. Richard Gantt was an excellent attorney at navigating my divorce. Going through a divorce requires someone who knows the law and understands what’s possible and what’s not. Someone who can advise you on how to navigate the legal aspect of a divorce while you focus on the emotional part and rebuilding your life. One thing to know is a divorce is decided based on facts, interpretation of the law, and what can be argued in your favor; emotion unfortunately does not decide the outcome or the process. Richard Gantt does an amazing job of understanding the law, explaining it for you, and helping guide you towards the best decision and outcome. Emotions cloud our judgment, making process difficult when we are overwhelmed by them, and a divorce certainly does that. Richard understands this and while he empathizes with what your are going through, he holds himself as the rock that is ever vigilant to the best outcome for you and everyone involved. He takes care of the legal aspect so you can take care of yourself and the new life you will find.

Top notch law firm. Highly recommended and worth the cost.

Rosen is a flat-fee divorce firm. You make one payment, usually between $6K and $10K and they promise to cover all legal issues concerning the divorce. In my case I was charged the upper fee, and they showed me a nice-looking brochure with a list of all the work they'd be doing. I was in such an emotional state that I didn't realize their fee was sliding based on how much they thought I was worth. Still, I thought it would be worth it if they would indeed handle all of the costs of the divorce like they promised.

What actually happened was after I paid, though, was nothing.

It took them weeks to just to scan my documents. But once you paid you're locked in and forced to wait since they've got your $10K and they're not giving it back. When I asked how they were going to negotiate the division of property I was told I'd need to hire another lawyer for that. In a formal letter, they explained that while they did show me a brochure describing the work they'd be doing, because none of those details were in the actual contract they weren't legally required to do them. You see, the less work they do, the more they make, so there's really no incentive for them to do more than the legal minimum. In my opinion negotiating how you split assets is the major thing you do in a divorce, so by taking that off the table there's not a heck of a lot left besides child custody.

Out of desperation I hired a second lawyer to do the property division, and I personally negotiated with my ex to keep down costs since Rosen said that was also outside the scope of what they agreed to do. Since I was out $10K at this point I had little money left to pay another lawyer but had no other choice.

With the cost of maintaining two households quickly depleting what was left of our savings, and Rosen refusing to do anything, my ex and I were desperate enough to ask divorced friends with kids to see if we can just copy their custody plans. It was really, really, tough to do this by ourselves, but we worked out our own agreement which I took to Rosen to write up since I at least wanted to get something for the $10K. If a divorce lawyer normally bills $250/hour, I don't think Rosen did more than $1,000 of actual work, but unlike a regular lawyer, Rosen doesn't report how much work they actually do so its impossible to say.

After the separation agreement was signed there have been continual issues where I needed a divorce lawyer, and Rosen's policy is you're on your own after that, so I'm still having to pay another lawyer to handle the ongoing divorce issues. Unfortunately, it was only after I signed with Rosen that I checked with the NC Bar Association and discovered that the firm has been censured for deceptive practices, which is the strongest action they can take against a lawyer before complete disbarment.

So, do yourself a favor and get a traditional lawyer. They have a slick sales team and will promise you the moon, and then have clever contracts so they don't actually have to do much. Their profit margin must be enormous, which they pump back into advertising and marketing. Think about it: how could any law firm stay in business doing $20K of legal work for $10K? The answer is they do the absolutely minimum to keep their costs down.

One more thing: Rosen pumps a lot of money into advertising and search engine optimization, so when you see a glowing review that was just added, and the person has no other reviews this is most likely a fake review. Do you really think a law firm would have all 5 star reviews?

Although my case never came to fruition my lawyer and her staff were professional and consistently communicated with me regarding such case. In addition I found them to be very empathetic to my particular situation.

I have been very happy with my attorney and with the process. I wasn't really ready to move forward with the divorce when I first hired Rosen Law Firm. My attorney was very patient and everything moved at my pace. I'm happy that I didn't rush into things. I'm comfortable and have no regrets.

Used their collaborative process to work out my separation agreement. They were patient and thorough and covered all the bases, very satisfied with my representation. The only thing to be aware of with the collaborative process is that it takes a long time... several months minimum, mainly because you're coordinating the schedules of five people (you, your spouse, the two lawyers, and the financial planner). However it was worth the effort if you can spend the necessary time to do it collaboratively.

I have used the Rosen site for almost a year. They have given excellent information about divorce issues. I did not need to hire an attorney until later for mediation. Excellent feedback if you pay the monthly fee. Your response is a lot faster if you are paying but the other site will get an answer but not as fast. Hmm. It's hard to rate anything related to a divorce as "Loved it" but they were five stars nonetheless. Yes it was expensive, but you get what you pay for. If my X had also chosen a top-shelf attorney instead of the 2-bit hack that she did, we would have been done sooner and for less money. To anyone reading this, I hate it for you, just know that it will eventually be over and life goes on. Concentrate on the things that can't be replaced (time with your kids) and don't sweat the things that can (everything else).

As unfortunate as it has been that I've needed Rosen in the past, I can't think of a better group of people to work with. I felt like I was kept up to date with what was going on, they were always available to assist or answer any questions I had.
I've worked directly with Ryan Short through mediation, trials, custody and divorce orders and always left with the feeling that I got a fair deal. I was always honest with him and he was always honest with me. With him or any attorney, I believe this is key, tell him everything honestly, good and bad. He will tell you what does or doesn't matter based on his experience. the firm is awesome, always stated what was my best interest, as oppose to just quoting what the law states has given me the best options to take step by step. and has always made time to answer any questions ,even if my attorney was out of the office they still responded.

I only wish my attorney was as good as you are you. Unfortunately they don't cross their T's and dot their I's and I always have to remind them about how to handle everything in addition my X-wife's attorney is even worse as she never gets my name right and keeps calling me Mr. Evers even though my name is Hoffman as is my daughter. However, my divorce is being finalized and I still need them to move forward even though they are charging me for things that are wrong.
