I was a passenger in a large SUV when the texting driver next down the road rear-ended us at a high rate of speed. I was with a co-worker, 350 miles from home. Our SUV was pushed through a crosswalk and hit a family that was directly in front of our headlights. The SUV was crushed clear to the back seats. I turned just in time to see my friend, the driver of our car, hit the steering wheel with her face and then the airbags slammed into me from all directions. My arm when numb and I thought my shoulder might actually be gone. While I was trapped in the SUV all that I could think about was the family that had been in my crosswalk and all that was suddenly at risk for myself. I was terrified for my new dream-job, my disabled husband and the MSW degree that I was pursuing full-time. I didn't know anyone who was in front of me and I was trapped in a car...alone. While all of this was going on, the other driver was arguing with the police because she had been cited for causing the wreck. Once friends arrived I let myself sort of black-out for a minute. Luckily, I called the right lawyer at 8am the next morning. An ambulance ride and two surgeries later I am healing. Doug and Mr. Casper, in the St. George office, have taken care of everything. Doug called or texted me at least once a week to see if I needed anything. He has been amazing! We are getting ready to settle/try this case and I know that I will miss them both when the work is done...but they will stay on our Christmas card list! If you are ever in an automobile accident the first call you make should be to the police and the next call should be to Robert J. DeBry & Associates.
