I wouldn't put it past him to write his own reviews because what type of professional individual puts a valued client through all this and why would they do that if they were truly working for that paying client? It doesn't make sense and that's why you should be Leary of his professionalism and if you are a female he really throws on the charm!

Let's be honest, if you are consulting an attourney it's a pretty safe bet there is a storm brewing in your life that you are unable to navigate through on your own. As for me, I was caught up in a tangled net barely able to catch my breath consumed with exhaustion and feeling completely alone in the middle of my storm. Mr. Schmidt didn't just throw me a life jacket and tell me help was on its way. He jumped in head first, recognized my most challenging struggles and took them on himself enabling me to break free from the net and graciously pulled me out of the storm. And for the first time in a very long time I felt protected and significant. His patience, understanding, compassion and kind words have touched my heart in a special way. My fee for his services was$2000. I would have paid $10,000. He is truly my hero.

I would not recommend this attorney in my opinion. He was my divorce attorney for a year and in that year absolutely nothing was accomplished in my divorce. I feel i was taken for a ride for my money. He withdrew from my case after i expressed how i felt and now he is sueing me for $5000 in attorney fees. We had an agreement i would pay when divorce was done. I did make payments to him. He asked me in an email to send him $2000 and i expressed i could not afford that high amount.
Not long after that he withdrew. I do not have anything to show for progress in my divorce infact it was delayed when he tried to get it transferred to bullitt county from jefferson county. He assured me it would be no problem getting it transferred and finally getting divorced so i agreed. Instead it was caught up in courts for months deciding which county will get it in the end it stayed in jefferson county. I am still waiting on my files to be available since asking for them from his assistant months ago after he withdrew. I plan on giving the bar association a call soon. I was asked by him numerous times in the first month i hired him to leave a good review for him. I did not feel it was appropriate to leave a review of any sort before any work was actually done on my case. In re of his response i drive an 04 cadillac escalade .I would hardly say its a nice vehicle at 14 yrs old.

Our family friend, Brent McLeod, I am sorry, it is now Brendan, had referred us to Mr. Schmidt. We had problems with visitation regarding our grandchildren. I haven’t been to this office, I was looking for clarification about permanent child custody in KY. I still haven’t found exactly what I need to know. Brief explanation: My granddaughter in 2012 had a daughter. She had/has a history of drug addiction but seemed to be keeping it under control during pregnancy and somewhat afterwards. She was basically homeless, refused to stay with us, lived with anyone that would take her in. That never lasted long, we were still under the impression she was taking proper care of the baby. We were given information that she was neglecting the baby , leaving her with anyone she could do she could go party or even taking her out in all weather so she could party and intended to ask the last lady she roomed with to take custody of the baby. My husband and I approached her about us taking custody instead. She agreed. I drew up an agreement, we notarized it and we took custody right around her first birthday. She lived with us until she was 6 years old. Both mother and dad seemed at that time to have got their life together and moved about 3 miles from us so the child could remain in the school she was use to. After that there started to be domestic violence in the home-never directly toward the child as far as we know. We discovered there were several different “friends” in and out of the house, that some were drug addicts, some were thieves, some just bad influence on a child and even adults to be truthful. Her husband also did drugs. They would cause disturbances and once or twice ended up in jail. We ended up taking the child back and after a time the judge gave us an order for permanent custody. Now this is where we are now. Our granddaughter was not allowed to stay here until she met certain criteria from the court. Her and her husband were both ordered no phone calls, no visitation until they complied with the court orders. She hasn’t. As far as I know neither has he. But after being given permanent custody by the court to us, she and the child’s dad can now talk to her and come to see her. Our granddaughter seldom comes and when she does she spends most of her time on her phone or telling us how wonderful the new guy is while he tells us they have no where to go and no food and he sends 60% of what he makes to child support and spends the rest on drugs. These kind of things have been going on for years. She refuses help, she denies needing help., she says she knows what is wrong and she can take care of it herself. What I am getting at is this. How and when can we make our custody rights truly permanent? Do we need the parents permission to abort the child? A lady I know adopted her great grandchild and Social Security pays her a certain amount for that child to help with the child’s needs. She is a single parent. We are a couple and both retired on fixed income. Would we be able to get help of any kind. At this point we get a small subsidy check and medical for the child.
Our main concern is how can we be sure they cannot take the child back? And how or if we can make it cost effective during and after? Not that we want anything for ourselves but that we can afford to do it and have the things she needs.
There’s so much more. Forgive me for taking so much of your time, but this little one needs a decent shot at life. We want to adopt her, but as I said we live on a fixed income and adoption cost a lot, I’m not even sure if we could afford it. I just know we will try as soon as we get the information we need.
I don’t really expect to get a reply from you but after reading some of your web page I decided it was worth a try to see if you could maybe at least tell me a starting point.
