When my wife was injured in a car accident, I tried to handle the insurance settlement myself. The insurance company seemed to work with us very well, and acted as if they wanted to come to a quick, fair settlement. When the time came to discuss actual dollar amounts, the whole scenario changed, forcing us to seek legal counsel. It was very important to us that we be represented, not only by a strong voice, but a fair and ethical one, as well. Todd was all of that, and more. He worked very hard to build our confidence, while being careful to temper our expectations. He explained each step of the process, and why he was doing it. His case for us was so well prepared, that the insurance company immediately asked to go to mediation, when he presented it to them. He was so thorough, in fact, that he continued to fight for us, even after we had reached a settlement with the auto insurance company. Five months after we reached our settlement, he informed us that he had negotiated a reduction in the lien that our health insurance paid, which increased the amount we received.

There is a bit of a stigma about personal injury attorneys, and some of them deserve it. We never felt that Todd was pursuing any sort of dishonest advantage, even while he aggressively pursued a fair settlement. Todd worked very hard to prepare us for the case, and for how long the proceedings would take. He kept us informed, and encouraged us when our confidence waned. By the end, it felt almost as if he was a friend of ours, more than just our legal representation.

We hope nobody needs to seek a personal injury attorney. If you do, though, and you want someone who will tenaciously pursue your interests, protect you from unreasonable expectations, and who applies a moral compass when making decisions, then Todd Burris will be an excellent choice!
