Scott Shults is my lawyer and has been for the past year. In terms of expectations and needs from an attorney, he hits them all. I live in NC due to my prior Military service but needed/need him for a complicated custody situation there in Johnson city. I've had previous family lawyers both there and in NC. The quality of his work ethic and the time he puts into my case every day far exceeds any other attorney I have ever had.

The prior family lawyer I had in Tennessee talked a big game until it was time to show up in court and defend me. Anytime I asked for updates or to see that lawyers progress, she would give me the runaround, and I would feel like a burden, like an inconvenience to someone I paid and trusted with my life. That was when I decided to cut ties and go another route. After talking to other attorneys in the area about great, caring family attorneys, I was put into contact with Scott. I can not think of one time that I contacted him, and he has not gotten back to me personally within a couple of hours, sometimes minutes.

I could not even tell you who his paralegal is or clerk only because he personally reaches out to me himself. Although, any time I have interacted with them, it has been extremely pleasant. I don't want to take anything away from them in this review because I am sure that because of his trust in the support and reliability in their roles, it allows him to be more personal with his clients. A good example I saw in his work ethic would be when I had an appointment with him to get some updates on the case and just do a face to face. When I walked into his office, he had my whole case on his desk, ready to show me. Keep in mind that I did not expect or ask for that. It was piled high, and he went through every relevant thing he has done in my case just to show me the progress. I was expecting a quick 15-minute verbal update on everything because that's what the previous lawyers I've had did, and this was such a pleasant surprise. I left there that day knowing that my case was in good hands with someone who not only takes pride in their work but truly cares about his clients.

Another example I can provide(I can seriously go on all day) is because I live in North Carolina and my case is in Tennessee it is sometimes difficult for me to get documents to him as fast as I would like. If I told him I'd have something on his desk by a specific time, he contacts me that day to ask where it is if it hasn't arrived. He stays on my back about the stuff needed for my well-being. If I could post the screenshots of him contacting me about things he still needs, I would. I'd compare him to that strict but kind teacher that would never let you give up on yourself in school. The teacher would make you want to be better and more accountable. Although he has other clients, he truly makes me feel like I am his only one. That's all I want in an attorney, is someone that cares, and even though my case is not done yet because of how complicated it is, I know that whatever obstacles we face on our day in court he will go in there fully prepared and ready to take them on. I honestly can't say enough about him as my lawyer. I just have never experienced this with any other attorney. His work ethic has even inspired me to be better in my own life and how I tackle situations that have nothing to do with this. Even though I know this review will make him look great( and deservedly so), I am not writing this for that.

I'm leaving this review for mothers and fathers who are in situations like mine and are spending countless hours googling attorneys trying to find the right one. The parents that want that safe feeling you get when you know you are in the right hands. So hopefully, this saves someone time or saves someone from hiring the wrong person when it comes to putting you and your child's life in someone's hands. Scott Shults is worth every single penny and more. I am so glad I hired him, and I hope this helps you in making your decision.

This attorneys office, is garbage. Small, inefficient, wasn't pleased with the services provided, kind of like my boyfriend last night. Don't try calling during regular business hours because they will not answer the telephone for anyone. 11/10 DO NOT recommend!
