I am not understanding the positive reviews about this law firm, especially for Martin Thomas Jr. I got in a car accident four years ago that resulted in a permanent injury. When I first went to him he was very helpful and nice but later on he seemed to be annoyed with me. I never reached out to him, I only came by or called if he asked me to. I was not insured at the time so all of my medical expenses were on a lien. When I was diagnosed and given a treatment option, I was informed that I would have to pay $1600 out of pocket. Well I told him I didn't have it so he proceeded with the case. Later on (1 year into the case) I find out that because I didn't get the treatment I really didn't have a case even though the treatment was just a bandaid not a cure. He never told me that if I didn't get the treatment it would cost me the case and had the nerve to say at least my medical bills are paid. I'm like yeah for treatment that did not cure it. I was left literally with money only to cover my previous medical expenses but not my future ones that I will have forever because of this accident. Four years later I'm still in constant pain having to deal with this injury for the rest of my life caused by someone else and having to pay out of pocket for the rest of my life for this because my lawyer was not straight and upfront with me and did not get me the compensation needed for this injury. I would not recommend him ever. Every time I see a commercial or hear anything about this firm, it's just a constant reminder of the mistake I made by using them.

Advised me to seek help from the hospital I was trying to sue... I'm not certain who is writing these positive reviews but perhaps they had clear-cut accident cases. Called another attorney and already got the ball rolling. Would not recommend.

I was in a minor auto accident and received a ticket for following too closely. I was under the assumption that I was automatically at fault, as I accidentally hit someone from behind. I contacted the Decker Law Firm and spoke with attorney Michelle Parker and was told that was not necessarily the case, and it was thoroughly explained to me why pleading 'not guilty' would be in my best interest. Pete Decker III represented me in court and took my case very seriously. At the initial court hearing we were unable to get the case dismissed so he asked for a continuance. By the time of the next court hearing he had gathered additional information as well as talked to the officer who issued the ticket. At the hearing, he was able to question the witness and officer expertly & present my case to the judge, which ultimately resulted in a dismissal of the ticket. Michelle Parker is totally incompetent! The Decker Law firm has a great reputation, but do not use her if you decide to go there. She was the worst attorney I ever had for an accident/personal injury. Your attorney is supposed to be knowledgeable and negotiate fiercely on your behalf. I should have just hired myself. I got charged with a misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Peter Decker Jr. himself had a consult with me, and after he wrote furious notes about my case we agreed to $1000. Through the months leading up to my court date I sent him constant updates to which he never responded. In fact, he himself didn’t communicate with me AT ALL until 5 mins before I needed to go up and hit me with “Okay, yeah we’re pleading guilty.” As if I couldn’t have done that on my own. So I get charged, go through 6 months of probation, and he doesn’t even show up to the last court date until after I’ve already sorted everything out myself. Clearly Peter Decker just saw my case as an opportunity to make a quick easy grand. Hope he doesn’t view your case the same way.

Let me just tell you, I thought I was going to jail. Not to mention those aren't even my first tickets. This guy (Pete Decker Jr- I think) is a pro. I should've went to jail and paid a crazy amount of money in fines. This guy got 2 reduced and one down to Improper Driving.
I should be on their pamphlets obviously. I recommend them to all my friends. He gave me a crazy good deal for letting him handle all of my tickets. I never really cared about leaving a review on law firms until I started working at one myself, and I love it! 10/10. Would recommend anyone to their firm. So professional and they have free drinks and a nice waiting room. And his office is really fancy.

If you want to have someone tell you to settle on what the prosecutor is going to do because they appear to be buddy buddy and visually rubbing elbows with everyone who stands against you, then waste your 2K + on Pete Decker lll. When it came time to go to court he told me to settle for the outcome. The end result of this was the loss of my 15 year career! He allowed the prosecution to slander my character while I stand in uniform with not a single objection! He allowed the prosecution to announce false statements on the veterans and active duty members of our Commonwealth and again, not a single objection. This experience appeared to be more of a social hour then a commitment to a duty to serve those who sought his popular assistance. He was not prepared to ask questions, in fact, barely asked any.

Afterwards, he'll smile proudly with an audacious explanation of "it's exactly what WE expected." In fact, it's nothing of what I expected from a lawyer to 'defend' me! Worst time I have ever had to endure with a lawyer! Any other attorney will do. You would probably do a better job at representing yourself than he does! Do not waste your money!

Lastly, this Commonwealth needs to understand the value of our veteran community. In four years, Virginia will be ranked as the fourth largest state with the highest veteran population. With that said, it's important to recognize the path our service members have taken in their career. I hope I don't need to be specific. Actions are never excusable, however look for the REASON of the action and the common denominator in the behavior. Find an avenue for service members to seek a positive outcome in a time of trouble versus forcing them down the same path with no hope of a better outcome. Clearly not asking to change a law, but find a program better suited to lead our veteran community when they need help.

My experience with the decker law firm was far from good. I hired the decker law firm to handle An underage drinking charge. It took 1 year and 1 month to resolve this simple matter. Continuance after continuance I started to question if the people at the decker law firm actually knew what they were doing at all. On every court appearance we made we had a new lawyer given to us who had no idea what was going on with our court case, and we would have to give them a quick run down 5 minutes before we went into the courtroom. Mr. Larry Cardon was 15 minutes late to one of the court dates. When we went to pick up my wife's criminal record she was arrested on the spot for failure to comply. She was supposed to do a class at ccp but on our ticket and the lawyers ticket the box for ccp was not checked. Instead of showing the judge that my wife had not completed the class because of the unchecked box on the ticket Ms. Michelle Parker asked for yet another continuance and took us in the hallway and filled in the box herself. Overall this has been a horrific experience I would not only tell you to pick a different law firm but I would beg you not to put yourself through the pain that my wife and I went through due to the lack of experience and professionalism at the decker law firm.
