I hired Eric back in February of 2018 to work on my case involving my ex-husband. Initially, I was working with another lawyer - who shall remain unnamed - but after some negotiations that were unrealistic and not in the best interest of my children, I decided to find a new lawyer.

Eric was amazing. He was very professional and handled my case efficiently and with my kids as the priority. There were a few bumps in the road but family court can be emotionally exhausting and in my case, it was. Eric & Heather did a wonderful job making sure all of my concerns were validated and that the orders enforced were agreeable.

The only con was keeping up with invoices. It may have been more of a blessing in disguise for me, but I only received one invoice that showed a breakdown of fees from the retainer. I paid almost $8K from Feb 2018 to Apr 2019 and I never received a final invoice that showed how the additional money was being used. I didn't really care that much after the final order was completed, but it made me a little anxious not knowing if I would need to find more money in the event they would request it. Thankfully, it never came to that and Eric said I would be taken care of no matter what.

I'm hoping - in a good way - that I never have to step foot in their office again for another court case, but if I absolutely had to, I would consider hiring him again. Eric, Heather and Shelbie make an excellent team!

I went through a difficult divorce. I have always been an involved Father, so it was very hard when initial temporary orders said I could only see my youngest child 48 hours a month due to his age. I was told by multiple people & 'professionals' that I would get no better than 4 overnights a month because that's what standard visitation is, and that's what Dads typically get. Now that the process is over, I am now one day away from 50/50.

Typical orders say non-custodial parents get only 48 hours a month until age 3, and then another increase at age 5. I have had almost 50/50 since my youngest was 2 by the time this was settled. I also have been able to maintain joint decision-making throughout the process.

Eric picks up his phone, and responds. I called his office on a Saturday night when I needed an attorney ASAP. He called me the next morning and set things up.

Eric was able to get temporary orders enforced and get my time with my kids back on track when temporary orders were not followed (after not seeing my kids for several weeks).

Divorce is hard, a contested divorce involving children is harder. Eric was calm and steady throughout the process.

After my husband of 12 years petitioned for divorce I was very scared and worried for my future being a stay at home mom with 2 young children. We had a terrible experience with Jesus and his staff at Willie & Dasher law. We caught mistakes in legal paperwork that was finalized and sent to us for review, they never met any of their promised deadlines, and, probably worst of all, we were not contacted back in a timely manner when we had issues. As my first experience with any type of lawyer this experience has made me understand that dealing with lawyers is terrible. I don't know how good he is as a lawyer because I never got to see anything he could do. He has a paralegal that is completely unprofessional and he backs her up without getting all the facts . We hired Eric to help us with a custody case and after several months of making zero progress we called the office to get some answers because we were getting frustrated. His paralegal didn't like the questions so she hung up the phone on us and refused to take our calls. When we saw him again he blamed us! He didn't even get our side of the story. After that, the relationship was toxic. Even though we had already paid for his service, we had to get away from him. When I went to his office to get my file so that I could hire another lawyer he had a terrible attitude and was totally unprofessional. I would NOT recommend him. Find a lawyer that actually cares and save yourself the trouble.

While reading other reviews I noticed that there is a 5 start review by Heather Cantu giving praise to this law firm. She is the paralegal that hung up the phone and refused to answer my calls. Her review states that she was referred by another family law attorney. SHE WORKS FOR ERIC! Lol. When looking at lawyers to handle my divorce case, one thing I noticed was many would have you deal with the less experienced staff instead of the themselves. This is not the case with Mr Willie. Eric and his staff were understanding and responsive to all of our concerns. Eric had to travel between Dallas and Austin to ensure our case was heard and was instrumental in gaining grandparent rights to protect our grandchild. Even while on vacation he responded to our concerns. He's the only attorney we've met in our 5 year legal battle that always comes through with success.

I filed a grievance with the state bar against Eric Willie (EW):
*EW gave me & my son, who he was also representing, false & inaccurate legal information, and he filed incorrect paperwork w. the court, as verified by 2 board certified family law lawyers.
*EW made a physical & unwanted sexual advance which was basically a physical assault.
*EW lied to the court, he lied to the attorney Karl Hays who I subsequently hired, & he lied to Amie Rodnick, my ex-husband's attorney. He lied about my legal circumstances & gave them false information about me. Karl Hays contemptuously said to me, “I know how Eric Willie feels.”
*EW signed legal temporary hearing orders that were written by the opposing attorney. He never made me aware of these orders. Another lawyer called the courthouse and relayed the situation to me. He signed them after I sought out new legal counsel. The lack of information was a source of much confusion for me & contributed in part to adverse circumstances for me & my son.
*Without my consent nor knowledge, EW initiated contact with the opposing counsel to discuss why he was "dropping" me as a client. I dropped him.
*At the hearing EW failed to response to recklessly false & slanderous claims by my ex-husband's attorney, Amie Rodnick. EW & Amie Rodnick had a private conference during the hearing. After speaking to Ms. Rodnick, EW approached me & told me that Amie Rodnick insists that I need a psychological evaluation & that he agreed with her. I informed him that I do not need a psychological evaluation. I need a lawyer. Despite that, he then did nothing while Amie Rodnick falsly claimed to the judge with near hysteria that my son had a drug problem & that he need a drug counselor.
* I was in shock & terrorized by the reckless false & inflammatory accusations. There are frequent reports of kids being trapped, abused & mistreated in the increasingly privatized, for-profit & largely unregulated juvenile justice system. I was near panic wondering what was going to happen to my son & who this "drug" counselor was.
* When I called EW after the hearing on June 12, I asked him specifically for information like who was the named counselor & other details that the judge ordered. EW refused to answer my questions. Instead, he proceeded to speak in a traumatically abusive, hostile, and lewdly suggestive manner. He made threatening demands that I pay him in full or that he would file a lawsuit against me, despite not receiving a bill. He accused me of cursing at him when I absolutely did not.
* His behavior had a traumatic effect & I sought the help of a licensed psychologist who referred me to attorney John Barrett who I consulted and who called the court house & determined that I had a hearing pending. EW never informed me of this hearing. It is clear to me that EW deliberately put me & my son in legal jeopardy by not informing us. He intended for us not to be at the scheduled hearing.
Hire EW at your own risk. It is near impossible get a grievance through the state bar. Read the TEXAS DISCIPLINARY RULES OF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT " Eric Willie might be great with simple, or totally non-contested legal maneuvering, but as my son's legal situation proved, and other reviewers have noted, he cannot handle complex family law legal matters. And when the going gets tough against aggressive, adversarial minded opposition, he chokes on the spot. He gave me wrong legal information, did not inform me of the legal situation me and my son were in, and filed the wrong paperwork with the court, lied to the court, lied to other attorneys about, improperly talked about me without my consent, treated me and my son's life with pure contempt
all of which are egregious violations of the State Bar's Texas Rules of Professional Misconduct.

When I hired Eric he was very friendly and assured me he could helped me with my case. In 2013 and 2017, Eric represented me in response to my self-employed ex-husband's petitions to lower child support amounts, and both times, Eric was able to persuade the court that my ex's claims of having very little income were inaccurate and misleading. Eric suggested to the court that if his low-income claims were true, then my ex was underemployed and child support amounts should not be lowered or nearly eliminated, as my ex was requesting. On both occasions, Eric was successful in persuading the court to maintain child support at the highest possible amount.

In 2013, my ex-husband claimed that I interfered with his visitation with our two children on two occasions, and he filed a motion for enforcement, requesting that the court imprison and fine me as a consequence. The visitation order that we had in place at the time was unclear and left much room for interpretation, which resulted in constant disagreements about when visits should begin and end, who should be driving the children, and even whether or not certain visits should take place. After my ex realized that his motion would likely be thrown out of court if we ever stepped in front of a judge, he requested that we each agree to drop the case. At that point, I had already retained Eric to represent me and I knew that if the wording of the visitation order remained the same, the conflict between me and my ex would simply continue. I asked Eric what my options were, and he suggested that we not agree to drop the case, and that instead we request a modification of the order, which would first go through mediation. Eric represented me during the mediation, and as a result, every change that I requested be made to the order for clarification was made, and none of the changes that my ex requested during the mediation were made. What started as an intimidating motion by my ex to have the court punish me for interfering with visits that were not clearly specified, resulted in a clearly-worded new visitation order that has all but eliminated conflict, thanks to Eric's ingenuity.

Eric also assisted me with estate planning and helped me and my current husband put together our wills, set up a living trust, and put our medical directives into place. He was very knowledgeable and helped us navigate through all of the difficult questions that needed to be asked in order to establish our plan. After a lot of research i retained Eric in regards to be represented in a divorce. I hired Eric Willie to assist me in court after being served with paperwork by my ex husband for custody.
