I wanted to take the time to give feedback and express my utmost appreciation for the work and results Mr. Halsey produced representing me during my divorce proceedings. First of all I began with another lawyer here in town that cost me in retainer fees twice the amount than what Mr. Halsey required to take over my case. My divorce took over a year and a half to finalize and Mr. Halsey took over at the midway point or a bit prior during this time. My lawyer though extremely expensive had done me such injustice by his lack of properly listening to my requests and concerns as well as never taking the time to properly familiarize himself with my case. After he and I parted ways the work and effort needed in my case was so overwhelming ( in my eyes ) and the damage caused by previous lawyer accepting everything my ex was asking for and he telling me that “ I am lucky “ this is all she wants and that I need to accept her terms. I felt completely taken for a ride and defenseless. Mr. Halsey took the time on our first meeting ( which was over an hour and he did not charge me a dime for ) to completely familiarize himself with my case. He was incredible. He could not believe how poorly my previous lawyer had represented me and saw that I was desperate and running out of money to afford proper legal representation. Mr. Halsey required half the amount of retainer fees and immediately went to work getting us back in front of the judge as well as speaking with my ex regarding her requests before finalizing our divorce. We were prepared every time we were due in court Mr. Halsey presented everything we had discussed during our meetings professionally to the judge as well as getting my ex to agree to terms that were fair and final. I could not be more grateful to this man. He does not sugar coat anything with you. He tells you what to expect and what he will do for you and does it. That is everything one can ask for can ask for when it comes to someone representing you during one of the toughest and stressful and unfamiliar proceedings a person can experience. Mr. Halsey and staff are very professional, orally articulate, have good written communication skills and also great listeners. Mr. Halsey argues convincingly in the courtroom before juries and judges, and has great public speaking skills. Mr. Halsey and staff write clearly, persuasively and concisely, as they produce a variety of legal documents. Another great and necessary trait that Mr. Halsey and staff have is their quick response time. I am comfortable calling at any time during the day, and being able to ask questions, receive answers and provide necessary information regarding my case. I highly recommend Mr. Halsey, he is without doubt, the best lawyer in town!

Bill is an amazing attorney. His fees are completely fair, he vigorously defends you in Court, his name is known and respected around San Diego and he is truly an honest attorney. If retained, be prepared for very limited contact with Mr. Halsey. I mean VERY LITTLE. I've spoken more to his secretary about legal issues and matters regarding my case then I did with him. He doesn't respond to emails or phone calls niether does his staff, save the secretary who is obviously limited on the information she can provide. I don't know if it's cause he thinks he's to good to or what, (although him being a prior Marine, I'm not surprised at his selfish and cocky attitude). Seemed kind and dedicated to my cause until he received his retainer (typical). Do your research. Hire an attorney who is going to give a d**n about your personal issues and case, instead of going through the motions and leaving you misinformed and feeling like nothing positive has occurred after a year plus of going back and forth to court with him showing up late and unprepared. I recall my second court date where Mr.Halsey was running late (of course i wasn't informed I'm just a client no big deal) just sitting there while the commissioner and my ex wifes attorney poked fun at Mr. Halsey. I sought other advice and counsel but simply couldn't afford it. I will say that every other attorney I explained my situation to chuckled when I told them I had retained Mr. Halsey. One even told me, "Wow goodluck, you should've done better research son". Says alot coming from your peers I think.

DO YOUR RESEARCH! MR. Halsey was found guilty of misappropriating client funds a few years back and was restricted from practicing law for over a year. This was brought to my attention by another attorney who told me to do my research next time. Be mindful folks!

Good attorneys respond to their clients. Good attorneys make an effort to keep their clients informed. Good attorneys fight for their clients wishes. Good attorneys dedicate themselves to the cases they accept( which doesn't mean over booking yourself just for money). This office, all except for the secretary who I've heard the paralegals bashing countless times when she's away is a total joke and disgrace. I wish to God I had done better research. Anyone in search of legal advice and counsel stay away at all cost.

I wouldn't even ask him to represent me if he did so pro bono. I walked into his office for a consultation, and after waiting 20 minutes after my appointment time, met with him for 10 minutes before being told he needed to leave for a softball game. He had absolutely no regard for potential clients and did not seem to have any genuine interest in my case whatsoever. Definitely do not recommend, and am especially glad I did not retain after reading other one star reviews by those that have.

Not sure how to review Mr Halsey.... Talks a good game, but did nothing to protect me from a vengeful ex-wife during my divorce. Literally stood there, literally. I guess he's ok if you just need documents filed.

He probably should have retired already, but he has volleyball fees to pay for. He will even tell you that. I won't comment on the state of his office.

If you want solid reliable help; don't use this law office for a divorce.

William Halsey has helped up tremendously and has went beyond our expectation. Our case was very rare and was very difficult for other attorneys and it also even rare for our judge. Halsey put in his best effort to do his research and helped us with the case with the best outcome. Halsey was warm hearted and was very caring from the beginning of the case until the case was closed. With future cases I will definitely come back to Halsey because he will provide us with the best results. So refreshing. I have used about 6 attorneys over the past 42 years in business. William says it like it is. This attorney was sloppy, rude and very lazy. He told me he did not want to file the appeal because it was too much work. Take a look at his offices. Dirty, cluttered, run down. Do not go here. You get what you pay for, very little.

Totally blew my case. Find another attorney.
