If you've ever been through a divorce, you know how emotionally and physically stressful it can be. My separation was unbelievably nasty, and to make matters worse my children were abruptly separated from me after being their primary caretaker for 12 years. I was in a state of devastation, denial and panic. They are smart and pay attention to the details, know the law, and most importantly they truly have your back (no, really). In our situation the law is no longer on our side and it may be too late to win, and yet we still are so grateful for their help. For the two hearings that Land and his team represented us they were incredibly organized and prepared, and had taken action behind the scenes that we weren’t even aware of like filing an ex-parte and having several exchanges with opposing counsel on our behalf. Joe crosses every possible angle off his list and really knows what he’s doing. His associate attorney Nina also spent the day in court with us, supporting Joe and helping where she could. You would think having a legal team at your side would bankrupt you but Land group are surprisingly fair and very transparent with their fees. Joe is smart enough to have paralegals and associate attorneys step in where needed and divides the work in the most efficient and cost effective way. We weren’t shocked with a bill, we thought it was totally reasonable for the great service we were getting. The most important part, I think he truly does care. I hired Joseph Land during a very contentious divorce and he helped me through a difficult time. Due to the nature of my case, he did tell me that these cases sometimes tend to be long and to be patient. However, I wanted my children immediately due to a horrible ex-wife who was using our children as pawns to "win" the divorce. They resorted to harassment, lengthy non-stop emails, creating frustration in the case, filing motion after motion, allegation after allegation and Joseph and Limor did their best to keep me calm and composed, which was not an easy task due to the high emotions in the case. He said to be the cool and collected one and let her look like the crazy one. I did want him to be more aggressive at times, but he told me that will not help me much. We had a court hearing for more custody and I got some of what I wanted and Joseph and I had planned to come back a few months later to get more custody.

Opposing side would be very demanding, filing ex-parte orders, etc. and Joseph would not worry and file a simple response as Opposing side's requests would get denied ALL THE TIME as all they knew was harassment - they never had any merit to their cases. He's one of the good guys out there and fights the family law case as it probably should be fought - in a civil way as there are people and children involved. Some attorneys don't get it and fight it like it's a business deal. Perhaps if I stayed with him, things would be different, I'll never know now. Everytime they lost a case or I got more time with my children, my ex would do her best to ruin my time with them, brainwash them, literally everything horrible a person can do to spoil a child's relationship with his father.

He was quite generous with the billing and helped me with the fees wherever he could. There were a couple of things that Joseph recommended and I wish I followed, but due to my financial situation and inability to let my emotions of the case be set aside, I'm still battling this matter. Even after relieving him from the case, he was kind enough to help me when I had to be pro-per.

I would recommend him and Limor and would recommend anyone going through this situation, especially with children, to be calm, do meditation, exercise, whatever you need to do to help you get through this time as emotions will destroy you and what's left of your family. We all love our kids, but there are some parents who will not let their children be happy with the other parent due to their animosity - these people are quite sick as they are not looking out for the best interests of their child. These are the people that need help. If you are planning on hurting your partner through the divorce - PLEASE don't use your children. Let the children love both parents. Don't show conflict in front of the children just to get the children to side with you. Be an adult and sensible parent.

In November 2013, attorney Joseph Land assisted me in acquiring 50% custody of my 6 year old son on an uphill battle with the respondent. I should have supported him the way he supported me by writing a well-deserved testimonial, but for one reason or another, it never happened. At the time, I thought he achieved what I could not and that I would never need his services again, I was wrong.

In May 2015, I put myself in an unfortunate position where I made myself vulnerable to decreasing that very important, half physical custody time with my son and making a temporary restraining order filed by the respondent, permanent. In this situation, I caught myself calling Mr. Land again. Due to the scheduled court date and my refusal to ask for a continuance, Mr. Whitmarsh was appointed to my hearing.
