Working with the office of Michael Berger was a great choice made by our company. His team is available and they deliver results. The attorney that was primarily handling the case was Michael’s Senior Associate Attorney Sofya Davtyan. Sofya is a very attentive attorney. She understood our case and gave us the results that we were looking for to solve our debt problems and to continue to grow our business. She worked diligently under the guidance of Michael and they both used their experience and expertise to help our case. With a case like ours we had a lot of questions and a lot of loose ends. Throughout the process, Michael and Sofya solved our problems. We always got the best answers to our questions and honest guidance that fit our situation.
Sofya was available and very courteous to all of our employees. She was a great negotiator to reduce our debt of the company to a much lower sum that our company can afford. She worked with us some days for long hours to prepare all necessary documents to meet our deadlines and to make sure that we always got the best possible result in Court. Her representation saved us a lot of money on the cost of the case.
Michael guided the full Chapter 11 process with his unmatched experience. He met every challenge that we had in our case and solved every problem.
We are very satisfied with the work that was done with our case. I highly recommend the Law Office of Michael Jay Berger to file and handle your Chapter 11 case and get you the result you are looking for.
A substantial part of the workload was done by Ms Sofya Davtyan, who has been well schooled by Mr Berger. The two of them make for a formidable team. I could not have gotten a better result I would give them 6 stars, but only 5 are permitted!!
When I came to Michael I explained what I was expecting, as I am the client, and I have the problem. He read through files and documents I sent prior to my meeting, as not to waste my time. I was rather impressed and satisfied with his preparation. Secondly, he LISTENED to me! By hearing my story, looking over documents and understanding the result I wished for, I felt comfortable enough to hire him. Don't get me wrong, I was reluctant only due to my previous attorneys, and the less than desirable results.
Within weeks I had an adversary filing of $800,000 dismissed in its entirety. This was the result I knew we could achieve, and Michael believed as well. He was very responsive to calls and emails, more so than anyone I have worked with. More importantly, he did not burn through the retainer I placed. In fact, I got most of it returned. This shows his integrity, character and overall drive to do whats best for you. My opinion above is a true depiction of what happened. I would HIGHLY recommend at least meeting with Michael, he is beyond the best out there. Thanks, I can get my life back because of your help.
FAST FORWARD ALMOST A DECADE. MY HUSBAND IS DECEASED AND I HAVE BEEN LIVING IN FEAR OF MY MORTGAGE COMPANY. I FELL BEHIND AND ONCE AGAIN TURNED TO MR BERGER FOR HELP. HE AND ATTORNEY SOFYA DAVTYAN QUICKLY INFORMED ME THAT I HAD BEEN RELEASED FROM THE DEBT!
THANKS TO YOU ALL!
Elaine
When the decision was handed down which did not favor us, he explained our options to us and how we should proceed. I remember him saying he was a "marathon runner and in it for the long haul". I followed his advice and stayed the course. I am happy to say that for his reasonable one time fee he represented us for years and now for me the race is over and my student loan debt of over $70K has been forgiven
Mr. Bergers professionalism, due diligence and honesty during the proceedings helped calm many nerves during this time.
Thank you for your help!
We had an involuntary bankruptcy case that was on the verge of dismissal when we came across Michael Berger. He and his associates resurrected our case, collected information, remained available and communicative, put the case together, and got the involuntary bankruptcy approved in court, not an easy matter.
Obviously I wouldn't just call him for any little thing, because he does charge money, but he remained available throughout, whenever the need arose.
Thank you. I don't know anyone who could have done it better.
She resolved my problems with a program that I can handle. First rate service and results!
After my experience with Michael Jay Berger, I am left worse off than when I started. This firms lack of professional etiquette and common courtesy reinforces the negative stigma that the comes to the collective public conscious when you mention the word lawyer.
I hired Mr. Berger to represent me in bankruptcy court as a claimant after the school I attended went bankrupt.
When I initially spoke with Mr Berger and his associates I was impressed with his education and resume. He told me that he would tenaciously fight on my behalf and that the for profit school I attended was a PONZI SCAM. He fed me lines like fruit of the poisonous tree and that I would not have to pay for something that I NEVER received. He said that my loan would be dischargeable through bankruptcy court. He said that Bankruptcy Court was THE BEST venue for my case.
I bought his legal misrepresentation of my situation hook line and sinker. But after I paid in full for his services, I heard very little from Mr. Berger or anyone from his office.
The nightmare began.
Here is the "service" I received:
After I paid, Mr. Berger was very hard to get ahold of. When I did get ahold of him and would try to ask a question, he would tell me to look on his "blog" by the end of the day. He would then quickly excuse himself out off the call. The subsequent "blog" would not be updated as promised. In many cases it was several days or a week or more later. How professional is it that an attorney will only post your case information on a blog that is open to ANYONE?
Mr. Berger even went as far as posting my name publicly on his "blog" I had to ask him TWICE before he removed it.
On one occasion he hung up on me in the middle of a question.
Email was worse. On one occasion it took 13 days for me to get a response.
Mr Berger then told me that Bankruptcy court was not and never was the best venue for my case. When I asked why, he refused to answer why he had changed his opinion. This question is STILL UNANSWERED.. In fact he has changed his story and stated that I never made this statement, though I have recorded audio of him making this statement to other victims of the school.
Mr. Berger then sold me out and said that a settlement (which was negotiated by a third party) would be the best way to go. However, Mr. Berger failed to mention that this settlement specified that my "new loan" (For education I never received) would have an adjustable interest rate with a floor of 6% and no upper limit. He and the other attorneys said that the interest rate would stay low (Like they did with the housing market?)
There were other issues with this settlement but this is another issue on it's own.
The last slap in the face...
Back in bankruptcy court Mr. Berger failed in his fiduciary duties to represent me.
It came to light that the shady person who ran the school into the ground (this man has a history of bad business dealings.. well at least that is what Berger told me before he took my money) had made a claim to assets in possession of the bankruptcy trustee for half a million dollars or more.
When I asked Mr. Berger to file an official objection to this motion, he flat out REFUSED and told me to write a letter to the court myself.
Well I have now found out that the court has approved giving the assets to this crook..
And here is the kicker: When I read the motion to approve the settlement, I came across this line: NO FORMAL OBJECTIONS TO THE SETTLEMENT MOTION WERE FILED.
Why wouldn't Mr. Berger file a formal objection to this motion? What kind of attorney would do this to their clients? Only one who was interested in taking their money and doing nothing more.
After wasting my hard earned money on Mr. Berger and his "services" I am exactly where I started back two years ago but far worse off. Mr. Berger didn't do anything on my behalf except for letting the clock run down. RUN FROM THIS MAN!
I definitely recommend him for anybody looking for an specialist Bankruptcy attorney .
He is always available and is a clear communicator. He gets the job done and the results have been above and beyond. He has a positive demeanor and spends the time clearly communicating the issues as we well as the solutions. I am so glad that he worked on my case and I would highly recommend him and his firm to anyone. From start to finish I could not have been more satisfied with the legal services that he provided to me.
I would like to thank the Staff at Michael Berger's Law Office especially Yathida Nipha-Roshan and Sofya Davtyan for their professionalism and promptness that they provided in getting my case discharging . Hope they are around in Ten Years incase I am in need of them again. But I will recommend their office and services.
Thank you Again
Sincerely
