Absolutely recommend this law firm and in particular my attorney Lance Dutton. Lance was amazing in handling my crazy divorce that had an overbearing and untruthful opposing attorney... he was able to refute and disprove anything they threw our way. He is VERY detailed and provides great guidance. My divorce was extremely long and Lance became more than my attorney as he treated me like a friend that genuinely cared about getting the best results for me. Loved working with his paralegal Lynn as well. Hopefully will never need him again but if so I definitely won’t hesitate to have him represent me.

As difficult as it is to have a need for a criminal or divorce (or both) attorney, I don't think I could have found a better representation than in Lance Dutton. Between him, his paralegal, and the staff at SMP I always felt I knew what was going on, my next steps and the most likely outcomes. If you want a wining team get these 3 people behind you. Between Melanie, Loddie, and Brittni, they went out of their way to keep the stress of the divorce, and the petition filed by my wife at a minimum. Melanie, as my lawyer navigated the moves of the opposing counsel and accurately predicting their moves, and never showed her hand to opposing counsel. As the divorce dragged on she gave me good advice, and foresight of the entire process and did her best to show me the moves that would minimize my cost. In the end I felt her insight to the divorce process, was paramount in my settlement, and the saving, though not what I wanted, was better than expected for the unforeseen complexity of the divorce.

Loddie, her paralegal, was just as cool and knowledgeable of the processes, and was very efficient at guiding me through the divorce terrain with excellent email contact. Lodi kept me aware of what was going on so that all things requested were done in a timely manner.

Lance Dutton and his firm have been extremely helpful with my legal needs. Lance is always very responsive to my needs and genuinely cares about his clients well being. I strongly recommend Lance as an attorney and his firm.

This is the right law firm for a man that's going through a divorce.

DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT USE THIS LAW FIRM! I went there for a simple child support modification. Long story short my attorney Daniel along with the entire team allowed opposing counsel to dictate and extend the case to the tune of almost $4000, and still no modification after over a years time. Finally after spending all this time and money with this firm I had to go hire another attorney. Again long story short my new attorney got the case resolved. Not only getting the modification, but my legitamation rights as well. (Something Sterns Montgomery wanted to charge an extra 2000$ to do). My new attorney was able to get all this accomplished in two months for $2500. Then to top things off Sterns Montgomery had the nerve to have I guess what they call some type of client relations specialist call me asking about a balance do, and my level of satisfaction. I had to laugh to keep from using profanity toward her and responded by saying " I feel you all owe me a refund." Need less to I haven't heard back from that client support/please don't write a bad Google review specialist.

Lance and his team were able to hear my case, get me into court within a month, and have it cleared up. Even after the case, he’s continued to help with little things here and there regarding the situation. I appreciate everything they were able to do for me. Wow, talk about an HONEST attorney being a rare thing these days. I found my rare gem when I found Attorney Shana Pennywell .

I usually don't give a 5 star rating for anyone, especially lawyers, but Shana Pennywell, is by far the most caring attorney I have ever met. I paid for the initial consultation and she took her time explaining everything to me. She did not rush me out the door with my undecided mind. She answered every question even when my appointment time ran over. She looked things up for me regarding filings that I may have not known about. She took her time until her next appointment, which was well over an hour.

I was amazed, ESPECIALLY after the initial consult, she still spoke with me over the phone, helping me to understand things when I remembered the questions I had forgotten to ask when I was there, and there was more than one phone call.

She is a very caring and compassionate woman, I felt extremely lucky when I did a search for attorney's and found her.

I had contacted other attorney's, but not one would talk to me even over the phone FIRST when i called until they received their consultation money. So I never saw or called those other lawyers back.

This may be a long review but really needs to be out there. She is not all about the money, like lots of lawyer's are. And Lance is a very rare attorney who specializes in a cross-section of law that not many understand. Lance knows criminal law and he knows family law. When the two intersect, he knows when and how to bring the details from one courtroom into the other. This is so important because, during very nasty, contentious divorce proceedings people often behave at their very worst, especially when there are children involved. There are frightening tactics that people going through divorce take to try and bolster their chances, including seeking to pursue criminal charges against the other party. Lance has seen this happen and has fought this from happening. Because of his experience in both types of courtrooms - criminal and civil - he is a true asset to his client!

A family member in such a situation was faced with serious criminal charges and an ADA that did not want to budge. We went to the initial calendar call with one expectation, present with representation hired before switching to Lance, but were surprised and unsettled when the ADA offered a deal that was not satisfactory. My family member was innocent of the charges - having been overcharged - and a plea to the deal would have irrevocably and very negatively affected the life of my relative and the ongoing custody case. The first attorney was not as familiar with civil law and told me he couldn't win this case in a trial. He wasn't comfortable with being able to bring the civil aspects that had fueled the criminal charge into the courtroom. We left that initial calendar call saddened, concerned, and bewildered. Understanding the civil history was so necessary to properly defend my relative. So we left and immediately had a conference call with Lance. That very day. And hired Lance. That very day!

Lance listened! He understood! He was READY to take this on!

From that moment on, things changed! Lance recognized the plea was not favorable, he armed himself with the necessary details, was VERY patient with our continued questions and anxiety, and set to work turning around an agreement that was just.

The court system can be reasonable and just if your attorney comes forward with confidence and strength on your behalf.

Lance was ready to fight in a trial. If he wasn't...if he didn't prepare as if he had to go to trial...if he didn't show the strength and confidence in his client and his case, taking the time to understand the intricacies and history, then no progress would have been made.

At the beginning of this year (2013) I found myself unexpectedly faced with the reality that my wife of 10 years and I were going to end our marriage in divorce. Simply stated, this was the second most difficult thing that I had ever been faced with. I soon realized that I needed to select an attorney for my defense as well as for the protection of my assets that were accrued both pre and post marital.

I had planned on meeting with several attorneys and Jenni, as everyone calls her, was the first one that I met with. We sat and talked for quite a while as she took notes. She wanted me to start as far back as I thought was applicable and tell her every detail up to the present. The meeting was so much more that I had anticipated. I had no idea that so many emotions would rise to the surface like they did. The fact that I was talking to a total stranger, and a beautiful young attorney at that, set the stage for what could have been an incredibly awkward moment. It wasn’t at all.

Jenni has a way about her that makes you feel totally at ease. She listens carefully and asks all of the appropriate questions in order to prepare the best case possible. Although she is young, her experience is quite evident and she is well connected in the legal community. Worst experience I have ever have. I thought my attorney was representing me but in the end I felt like I left even more confused and $7,000 out of pocket for a divorce. The attorney was more concerned about making sure my ex husband was happy rather than myself and three children. I was of course under a great deal on emotional distress but hoped that I would have been assigned an attorney whom had my best interest in mind. After 8 years I am still paying for the mistakes the attorney had made, not to mention the outrageous fees they charge. Since my experience I have heard similar stories. They do not care about your life. They just want your money.
