I was there with my daughter for mediation. The receptionist was very nice, but can't say much for the attorney and guardian ad lidem. They were rude and out of line.

Picking a legal team to help you is always a gamble...you NEVER really know how well they are going to help you, or how good they are, but they sure will take alll your money for Doing the bare minimum. My “lawyer” that was assigned to my case did not fight for me...I was not prepared for court like my ex was, I was attacked by his counsel and made out to be a villain....and my attorney said and did nothing. There was obviously bias by the judge and the court appointed guardian against me, and she just sat there, with her head down. She did however have a good time laughing and talking with HIS lawyer before and after court. What a way to instill confidence in your client. I was at a huge disadvantage because I was from out of state, and they did nothing, in my opinion, (besides a little paperwork) to get paid all that money for my case, Which I’m sure they knew I would not win, since I feel they did not fight hard enough for me to win. Even calling me while on my way from Florida, to try to get me not to go to court. I feel like they knew I wasn’t EVER going to win. I would NOT recommend this firm, nor would I ever use them again. Now I understand why people hate lawyers....it’s hit or miss when you pick one, sometimes you get lucky and get a great one, sometimes you get a HUGE miss and spend a lot of money expecting HELP, and get nothing. This was a MISS For me with this firm.
It really sucks that regular people don’t have thousands to spend on a lawyer to begin with, but it’s the WORST when you have to continue to pay thousands of dollars for a firm that your already locked into because you trusted them. I didn’t have the money to change in the middle of the process....so I was stuck with them and I trusted that they would be working for ME...but after seeing my lawyer yucking it up with his lawyer...I knew I was doomed. I don’t have my son....But they got all their money....so I’m sure they are happy.

Rick Friedman & His Team Are Absolutely Amazing!!! Period!!

Rick Friedman returns calls very fast and talks you off your ledges very well by having a calm demeanor, listening and being that informed professional on your side. You get what you pay for. Well worth my time and all the good local recommendations are true
The first thing he did was to move my case from the Chesterfield Juvenile court (my kids were adults but my ex filed the case there *for a reason*): In Ches county, when temporary alimony is determined, that court does NOT take into account YOUR expenses. Rick moved the case to General District court and that made that burden much lighter as the opposing side was asking for more than I took home. Easy way to get thrown in jail after you default on alimony!

But Lindsay Dugan represented me in my divorce. She gave incredible attention to detail, informed me of my rights, the law and my options. She fought tooth and nail for my side, a man. My first lawyer, another local Richmond female attorney was sloppy, disorganized, forgave missed discovery deadlines by the other side and made me feel like she was fitting me into her schedule.

Lindsay is a consummate professional that worked very hard and obliterated the other side's arguments and attempts to control the judge via emotion. Highly recommended.

I walked into Friedman Law Firm fifteen minutes after my divorce case (which I had attempted representing myself on - 1/5 stars, do not recommend) was dismissed. Within 10 minutes of walking in, I met with Julia Carlton. Within an hour, I had retained her as an attorney and she had a plan of action. Within 3 days, my divorce suit was once again filed. In a week, she had filed the other documentation providing for a no-fault divorce. In two weeks, I was divorced. Her attention to detail was incredible and she and her assistant provided me with the peace of mind of knowing my case was in good hands. They were extremely diligent and well-versed in the law, as one would expect, but also provided insight into other courts and displayed a level of local knowledge that was extremely beneficial. I wish I had retained them months ago, and am very pleased with their professionalism, candor, and wealth of knowledge. This is where you go to get something done.

The quality of representation I have received from Kurt Brickman discredits this entire firm. I had hired Kurt for a civil matter in Virginia as I lived in Oklahoma, at the time he was facing criminal matters for providing alcohol to a
child and his loyalty was with the system that held his future in their hands.
Unfortunately, his inactions such as challenging the courts' jurisdiction, raising justified objections or even making scheduled court appearances were not within his realm of professional capability- causing us to lose what seemed to be a simple and moral legal argument.
Further, if this firm would hire this caliber of an attorney, clearly indicates the realm of professionalism, competency and integrity this firm operates under. K. Brickman is a coward, do not trust him with your legal matters.

I could not be more disappointed with Friedman Law. Being a young man (only 20) I only have so much money for a lawyer and Going in they said that an "Estimate" would be around $1000.( I ended up paying initially $742.50) The idea of the hiring so that I could get a ticket dropped from my name and put on the other driver. Which should have been put on him in the first place. Mr. Dull added comfort that the price wouldn't even be that much and that "If the case went through quickly I would even get a couple hundred back for it."
Court day comes and Mr. Dull cant even look me in the eyes. We enter the court room of the Judge that "He has worked with before, and has no worries about winning" (another set of comfort he's laid). He sits on the OTHER SIDE OF THE ROOM, maybe speaking 20 words to me before. After about and hour and a half he finally comes to me. With a whole new plea, of driving school.
After I waited months, spent hundreds of dollars for all the work he "has done" for this case, for him to last minute chicken out and go for the easy route. After it was over and I did get driving school. WHICH WAS NOT WHAT I WANTED! That still leaves me as the guilty party. that still leaves me to pay the insurances for both vehicles. BUT... BUT Best of all. I get another Fee from them for an EXTRA $800. For all the Hard work hes put in. TOO LAST MINUTE GIVE ME DRIVING SCHOOL. TO chicken out and have the audacity to charge for "His Hard Work." This Firm is a JOKE! I would never recommend it to even the people I most hate.
My question is. Do you Feel accomplished as a Firm for this. Did you all get back and High Five celebrating for another "Win." Because I know working. If I did something for someone, and last minute changed my mind. I wouldnt get paid for the work I just did. If I put hours into a project for money, just to throw it away. And then go and throw a new number into the field. I would get looked at like I have 10 heads.

I had a problem with one of the attorneys there. Rick Friedman called me and had me come in and had a team of people to ask me what I needed done and long story short. He went above and beyond to help me and I will be using Rick in the near future for custody . He was very professional and upfront with me . I am glad I went back to speak with him and his team and feel good about going forward as my attorney.

Kimberly Fitzgerald is the lawyer I chose from Friedman LAW. She is the best. The amount of time she spent on my case was so professional and courteous. She made me feel so comfortable with the whole divorce and custody process. I could call her anytime with questions and she displayed great patience with me because divorce, especially when dealing with children, is gut wrenching. In April 2019, I retained Mr. Kurt Brickman to handle my case. About four weeks later, I received my first statement. After a quick review of the charges, I have noticed the times taken to perform the services are all excessive. I contacted Mr. Brickman to, informed him about the issues with the charges, and explained that the times and quality of the work were not what I expected, and gave him the following examples:
1. A phone call with me that took 19 minutes. I was billed for 30 minutes.
2. A simple introduction letter to the opponent’s attorney consists of about 5 lines that should have been completed by a secretary at a much lower rate, I had to pay a full attorney rate for it. He said he doesn’t have a secretary. So I have to pay for 30 minutes @ $295.00 hr.
3. Few emails the longest about 5 or 6 lines. Charges ranged between 10 – 30 minutes. The 10 minutes email consisted of one line “I don’t think so.”
4. I requested him to do research to find a definitive answer to a question that he was not so sure about. After 1.5 hrs. ($445.00) of “extensive” research, I had more questions than what I started with. I asked him some clarifications on his research, a ($295.00) later, I got a vague answer that does not help much.

All in all, this is about the quality and value of the work that did not meet the expectation, the recommendations, and reputation of the firm. It is difficult to trust an attorney with a case that impacts your life and future when the initial work is done is way below the expectation. At this point, I don’t have the trust or confidence in this firm.

Mr. Brickman replied with “Sorry that you feel that way” but has no intention of issuing a refund or even partial refund.
This was a complete waste of my time and my money, which I have to spend all again with a different attorney.

That initial meeting let me know what I was in for and the attorney set forth various options and suggested a strategy to get me to the end of my case. Highly recommended!

Has sent me an email saying that if I call him and apologize he'll finish my case. He was paid thousands to do it. No amount of money is worth dealing with him or his "law firm". Also, a lot of the positive reviews are fake, they are from people who work in his office.

Worst law firm I've ever delt with. Lindsay Dugan and Rick Friedman routinely ignore emails and phone calls. Will go months without any type of update, then get angry when you try to follow up. They will also bill you as many times as they can for the same thing, was billed at least twice for the writing of the same QDRO. How do I know it was the same?, same typo in each one. Lindsey had written it, decided my case wasn't worth her time for over a year and ignored me got Rick involved and the same exact document was sent to me, after I had told Lindsay a year prior of the typos that she never fixed. Offical documents were sent to the court that had my wrong date of birth and last name spelled wrong. Also remarried 2 years ago and changed my name, informed them within weeks and they were too lazy to correct the name. Now have been waiting almost 4 months for Rick to send me the QDRO in the mail so I can figure it out myself. He won't give me the contact info I need either. These are only a few examples of the difficulties I've had with this this law firm over the last 4 years of trying to finish a divorce. Save yourself and find a different law firm.

Mary ashby has been my attorney for about 3 years now. She is so patient, understanding and wonderful. She listens ..is honest in her opinion and makes time even if she doesnt have any. At this point she is more my friend than my attorney. Friedman firm has been essential in my family and I couldn't say enough good things .

I can't say enough about Mr. Friedman. I went through 10 years of hell over custody of my children, and many many lawyers who all acted one way but then changed once they got their retainer money and did nothing to help me. When I met Mr. Friedman, I was sceptical to say the least. But Mr. Friedman went above and beyond his duty! I remember one time before court he was at his office in his gym clothes at almost 10pm working on my case. My entire court experience changed once I got with Mr. Friedman and I was finally with a lawyer who didn't just sit in the chair at court while I got crucified by my ex husbands lawyer. Mr. Friedman actually fought for me and to this day, I am so greatful for all he did.

Rick puts the emphasis on litigation and increasing the bill and not the family law of trying to help families. He tells the kids one thing and does the other. Instead of being a calming force in a tough time with a client who was a time bomb, he let him destroy himself and his relationships with his children. But he got a big paycheck.
